Jewelry is the icing on the costume cake. But it can be hard to find exactly what you’re looking for.
So what do I do when I can’t find it? I make it!
Join me in recreating a sparkly 18th century coque de perle parure!

🤗 This seems extremely relaxing...so I'll come back later and watch it as I wind down for the evening. 😂

What a gorgeous project. I'd recently been thinking about how to recreate cut steel buttons, but wasn't sure where to start. Your explanation of materials has made that undertaking seem a million times more doable now. Thank you.

Yay! Having the right tools really helps. It’s so always working with small rhinestones when you can’t wrangle them easily. I’m sure your buttons will turn out beautifully!

Where do you find the cabuchons and stones and such? I love what you've done with them!

That was extremely creative !!! I have several real cut steel pieces of jewelry & they are NOT cheap! This is such a beautiful effect & in essence like hot off the press brand new! Original cut steel can loose it's brilliance over time. This is just gorgeous ! BRAVO CAROLINE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! Now that you mention it, had I thought of it at the time, I should have pulled out some antique cut steel to compare! Ah well, next time! This is definitely the budget version 👍

Love the mother of pearl with the cut steel (and the bows! I love bows too). Those will look divine glittering in the soft light when you wear them.
