This is a nice rework that very much improves the skeletron fight as the vanilla version can get stale. I really like the teleporting attack but my favorite is the screen-bounce one. It is just so unique and something I've never seen before. However, there are some things I think could improve. The way Skeletron attacks with his hands seem a little janky and random. If they had more of a pattern to them, they'll be more dodgeable but still challenging. Also, I think Skeletron's skull could move a little faster during its teleporting attack. Finally, its skull pulse projectiles should travel through blocks. At one point in the fight, and entire pulse was eaten by the dungeon. Overall great and very unique Skeletron rework.

Yeah i had a stroke when i saw the hands but i dont think they do enough damage to really be a threat its was the projectiles that were killing him. Still would be nice to make it more manageable

The entirety of the fight was brimming with creative ideas and attacks, but the execution in the first phase seemed off. Skeletron's slaps were unpredictable and too speedy to comprehend. I had no clue of where the hands would go next, because they didn't indicate so; it was all very spontaneous. Provided they were telegraphed a bit more, and slowed down, it would look better. Other than that, I loved the bouncing head and all of phase 2, and everything else. There was a flow to it, like a dance. Great stuff, and great potential.

This is quite possibly one of the coolest skeletron fights ive ever seen. Just to see it even I don't even care if it's to difficult but the ending phases with it teleporting during the phase you'd normally get good damage on him is wild although maybe adding a stagger phase where he stops moving for 5 seconds or so would be good after like 20 seconds of his firework show 💀 overall great rework very cool concept

While I personally felt phase one of the other was perfectly fine and only the second part needed a rework, I do like the dancing hands. Though yeah, to repeat what's been said, this looks kind of nightmarish for a melee player that can't find the materials needed for a Trimarang due to the Head seemingly never being within striking range.

breaking news: touhou fan hasnt actually played the games i'm just gonna say this, touhou is a lot harder than infernum, eternity, and eternity/death. masochist does reach the border on some bosses (cough cough mutant cough deerclops cough deviantt cough cough duke fishron cough), but most are still relatively fine, with a few bosses being made even better than their standard eternity fights (lifelight and wall of flesh).

@@tsukara In my opinion some touhou games are close to infernum or eternity if you play in hard difficulty because the movement in terraria is some hard to learn and can be tricky in some situations if you dont have the enough experience, but the games in lunatic is the true definition of hell, im still stuck in the extra stage of touhou pcb and some bosses like junko or yuugi sill being a nightmare for me even without being the hardest bosses in the saga. i shouldn't be playing that much highly responsive to prayers

this is cool but i do think the one guy has a point about melee summoner wouldnt be nearly as bad as melee but still not viable. I think maybe change a weapon or add projectiles to some or add a phase once it loses its hands and then u can get much of your damage in. I personally just think that their could be changes but if your goal is to make people switch classes thru the playthrough then its fine. other than that i really like the skull attacks and the seconds phase where he shoots the multiple water bolts in several directions

Yeah, the weapon classes situation is a bit complicated. I think it's more Relogic's mess than anyone else's, so it should be fair for me to just balance the fight around the ideal weapon
@@portalmech4770 I think it’s possible no matter the class, you already showed what range can do, it’s very obvious with mage, summoner has whips, and melee could just use blade of grass since the leaves cover up a good majority of the screen, that and yo-yo’s are good if you know where he is going to go and you just stick your yo-yo out in a spot, it’s just harder with the classes but it’s not impossible

Not a big fan of this one sadly. While the attack themes are good there's a bunch of issues I have with the fight. First of all, this fight basically requires SOC or another dashing accessory to be doable. I'm guessing most players will start with this mod in classic, and this fight would be a huge turnoff if you get killed like 30 seconds in to undodgable attacks. Several of the attacks aren't even possible to dodge, like at 1:19. This is also a bit of a nitpick, but having the boss attack so soon is kinda scummy, most first time players will get hit just because there's so little time to react. In the second half of the fight, a lot of time wasting measures are used, like the boss constantly moving around and teleporting. This would be okay on literally any other (non nocturnal) boss, but a boss that instakills you when daytime happens is not a good idea for a timewaster. This boss also sort of fucks over any non-ranged and non-summoner character. This was fought using the minishark, one of the stronger ranged prehardmode weapons. Now imagine fighting this boss with a Nights edge. For the second half I would go as far as to say that this boss is impossible as melee, because the boss rarely ever goes in to melee distance, and most players don't have SOC to get closer to them. I appreciate the attempt at trying to make the boss slightly more interesting after the hands get cut off, but I think it ends up just being a punishment to the player to cut off the hands. I feel like the boss should use more melee attacks in after the hands are cut off.

I'll be going over your points one at a time to make sure they're all addressed properly. 1. This rework is part of a modded difficulty I'm making called "Cursed Mode", which can only be activated if you're already on Expert. Shield of Cthulhu is pretty much mandatory already, so I see no issue with making it required. (I might also add that even if you could fight it in normal mode, the health and damage values would be so pathetic that you could probably beat it with your eyes closed.) My version of how the fight starts is also technically more fair than un-modded Skeletron, because you're given time to get to your arena and prepare instead of having the boss spawn right next to you and guaranteeing a hit. 2. You could argue that every boss attack that has it moving around is technically a time waster, since it could cause the player to miss. Should that stop me from making such attacks? I don't think so. The attacks may make it harder to hit Skeletron, but you get plenty of ample opportunities, and I also greatly reduced Skeletron's max health to compensate for any time related issues. 3. That's more of a problem with Relogic's balancing than anything else. You could feasibly use a magic weapon such as the Space Gun for the fight, but in general ranged is just the boss option for pre-Hardmode, as the Night's Edge just doesn't dish out enough damage for how much risk you have to take to make proper use of it. You'd probably have a much better chance of beating this Skeletron rework than you would trying to beat the Wall of Flesh with the Night's Edge. 4. In this rendition, Skeletron is completely invulnerable until the hands are killed. I would also consider all of his attacks in the second phase to be partially melee. While he's shooting out skulls he will fly directly at you, he'll spin directly at you while doing his teleporting attack, and when he bounces around the screen he can easily run into you if you're not careful.

@@portalmech4770 All good points. 1. In that case it's fine to require SOC. As much as I dislike bosses that require a specific item SOC is meta anyway. Also, in normal Skeletron, the boss attacks slowly, so you have plenty of time to dodge out of any attacks. 1 also doesn't address the completely undodgable attacks either. 2. That is not what i'm saying here, the issue is not with the attacks themselves but rather the lack of any real chance to hit the boss, it just keeps attacking. Out of all of the 3 attacks I saw, 1 of them is not feasible to attack at all in, 1 of them gives you some opportunity to attack the boss, and one of them really depends on whether you are prepared. This kinda just frustrates the player where you have to wait 30 seconds to attack a boss and only get like 700 damage off. 3. It doesn't need to be a problem with YOUR balancing, though. 4. Ah, that makes sense. While yes, both of those phases do allow you to attack the boss, you get very little time to do so.

@@Arandomguy752 1. This rework does not have any un-dodgable attacks that I know of. You can hypothetically avoid all of them without taking damage, simply with enough skill and strategy. 2. I would argue that the three attacks are all quite fair and engaging when it comes to damaging the boss. There are certain ways you can optimize your strategy in each attack to get the most damage out. It's true, Skeletron is easier to hit during some attacks more than others, but I wouldn't call any of them time wasters. 3. Should I balance my boss so that every class is viable? I could try, but it would greatly restrict and even possibly ruin the fight. I think we can generally agree that the melee and summon class are terrible against un-modded Skeletron compared to ranged or magic. If that's a problem it's not my responsibility to fix it. 4. Technically there's no time when you can't deal damage to the boss. It's just up to how well you can aim and predict its movements.

its a good bossfight, but i really hate the fact that the boss starts slapping you with undodgable slaps once one hand is down 1:50 is literally 10 seconds of undodgable attacks, even if you kill both hands at almost the same time (as you did in your video) forced damage (cant convincec me that you are supposed to dodge that) is horrible game design

It's not obvious, but when it starts slapping you its damage goes down to 1, so it's not very threatening. I did that entirely for comedic effect
