I can handle poly for athletic wear and that’s about it, so I’m totally with you on the hearty preference for natural fiber bedding. I love the way the dart on the back neckline of the overdress ended up adding continuity by mimicking the v-shape of the front. In addition to the 1.5 inch overlap instead of 1 inch making it look intentional, it let the motif continue to a centered point that gives it an extra finished, balanced look.
@adedow13338 ай бұрын
I use a combination of cotton and poly. We have a California King bed, so finding sheets for an affordable proce is definitely a factor. And ehen chiising poly sheets, we usually go with microfiber which is softer and has a nicer hand than the typical poly garbage bag type. And also, one of my favorite colors is lilac, so I'm very pleased you found/had available such pretty fabrics ❤

Since Bridgerton doesn't claim to be completely historically accurate, one can feel free to stretch beyond traditional Regency colors/fabrics/details. I used to find the kids' Halloween costumes at the local thrift store, and never entirely from the "gently used" costumes. (F.ex., Superman boy's costume + short red skirt = Supergirl costume for my daughter!)

I think the polyester sheets are popular because they are SO inexpensive. A whole queen set for less than $20 vs. cotton for $50 for instance. I've also noticed that they are marketed slyly to downplay the fiber content and play up other properties like their initial softness. People may not realize what they are getting. Anyway, super excited about any and all upcycled material challenges!!
@twinnish8 ай бұрын
I have seen them sold where they tell people they have great thread count, and they don’t mention the fact that they’re polyester except some very small print. The thread count business is disingenuous and misleading. You can get relatively inexpensive cotton sheets at Walmart or target or eBay. Or thrift stores, estate and garage sales.

A really cheating way I fix gaping parts (usually in the armhole of sleeveless things for me) is to thread elastic thread through the hem. It's usually just enough to help it lay flat without gathering. Works especially well on knit fabric.

What an enchanting ensemble! I think the pin tucks really do add that extra bit of elegance and interest. I love the idea of detaching sleeves too. I’m pretty sure the first video of yours that I saw was the one where you talked about Penelope’s dresses fitting so horribly in Bridgerton. Then I binged to catch up on your channel and have loved it ever since. I just discovered Kiralee Cosplay from you channel and have watched her Bridgerton videos. I think I must have missed that blue Bridgerton dress video you made so I’ll find it and watch that. I loved season three so far. I binged the first three episodes in one day, lol and am waiting until June for the rest. I must admit, Pen is my favorite character and am loving her story arc. Take care. That lavender would be perfect for a half-mourning gown!
@JenInOz8 ай бұрын
Hope you don't need to use it for that though
@Haghenveien8 ай бұрын
My mother has told me about this concept of mourning clothes they used to have back in the day, in the times of her grand mother or great grand mother. And it was really strict. Half-mourning was still black, only with some detail maybe in white or grey. Brown was a step further. Of course, we are talking early 20th century, or even late 19th century in a small village in Spain. To give you and idea of how things were there, my mother told me about, a great aunt of hers, I believe. After four years of mourning, she allowed herself to get to the door of the house for the first time to watch some sort of parade. Wild. A half-mourning dress in lavander would have been so scandalous that I don't think that it would have even crossed their minds.
@DOSBoxMom8 ай бұрын
@@Haghenveien Lavender for half-mourning was a Regency England custom. Small-town Spain over a century ago may well have been stricter about mourning attire. (Although Queen Victoria stayed in deep mourning for the rest of her life, after Prince Albert's death in the 1860s.)

In winter I do definitely sleep on non-cotton sheets, polar fleece sheets all the way. I don't heat my upstairs, and polarfleece sheets are not cold to get into like cotton or cotton flannel. I have a few polycotton sheets that are not awesome and a few that aren't bad (they're definitely more comfortable than the cheap cotton set that's rough with pilling), and a few microfibre sheets that feel really soft but if I use them too late in the season I sweat in them.
@LadyRebeccaFashions8 ай бұрын
I didn't even know polar fleece sheets were a thing! I feel like poly cotton isn't the worst, but this was like poly lining feeling.
@bunhelsingslegacy35498 ай бұрын
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Echhh, sounds like it would feel like a shower curtain!! And yeah in Ontario, polar fleece sheets are definitely a thing. Some are made better than others, I've got two less expensive sets that are double sided fuzzy but are starting to pill and attracting cotton fluff if I wash them with towels and don't brush them occasionally, the Sunbeam brand ones are only brushed on one side but they're so much softer, and they don't seem to pick up other fibres. Really luxurious to slide into when the room temperature is 15c/60f, even fuzzy flannel cotton sheets feel cold, those are spring and fall sheets.
