I Made a Bridgerton Dress!

I decided to celebrate the second season of Bridgerton on Netflix by making a dress fit for a member of the Bridgerton family!
All the fabrics in the dress came from Joanns -- 6 2/3 yrds of Kona cotton, and 4.75 yds of both the organza and the embroidered netting, which I have linked here: www.joann.com/...

This is two years ago, so you probably won’t see this comment, but I just have to say that this dress is STUNNING! You looked so elegant and beautiful in the photo shoot and that tree was absolutely perfect. I definitely love the more fantastic interpretation of regency dress seen in Bridgerton. While I am an ardent Jane Austen fan, the regency color palette is not my favorite. The Featheringtons definitely have the most distinct look. I absolutely love this dress.

Those fabrics are gorgeous, especially the floral layer! Simplicity S9434 looks like they resized a vintage pattern from the 1960s.

Could be. The 1960’s style was most probably a redo of the regency style itself. Since fashion goes around and comes around.

I love this project! It came together so beautifully and I love that the thrifted shawl worked out so well. Also the Bridgerton costume designers need to watch this and see that it is possible to make flattering Regency silhouettes for all body shapes and sizes!!

I did not get the initial appeal the flower fabric at all, but when you put it over the blue with the sparkles.... OMG so gorgeous. You should totally do the simplicity pattern and just wear modern underthings, and do a comparison of silhouette!

Although you didn’t use the simplicity pattern for very good reasons, it’s very helpful to me to see how close it is to something with a historical basis like laughing moon. I don’t have any regency dress patterns and simplicity is a good place to start. Also easily available. So thank you for that. Awhile ago you had mentioned something about selling patterns. I am about the same size as you are and would definitely be interested in buying patterns that need little to no adjustment.

I'm glad it was still helpful, and I do think that simplicity pattern would be pretty decent to use. I would like to sell more patterns, but I'm not very well-educated in making them, so they take me a long time to do. I have one for the purple gingham pinafore dress I made last year, and I do hope to at least get the teens dress one that I started going, but I haven't had time to focus on it.

So Beautiful! It's interesting that you started with the Featherington's in mind and then switched to Bridgerton Blue. I know Nicola Coughlan and the costume designer for Bridgerton talked about slowly evolving Penelope's look over the course of the series (she's wearing fewer accessories and softer yellows and pinks by the end of season 2). Considering her love for the Bridgertons. I could totally see Pen wearing something like this when she gets older and isn't under her mother's eye as much.

Just had snow today (wednesday) after a couple of weeks with the temps being at mid to high teens C. Using the net top layer has given me sooo many ideas.
