This is actually perfect for a villain though. Every time one of the main characters/allies dies by the command of the villain we cut to a scene of the villain snuffing a candle and capturing the relevant characters piece. The game could start with a board filled with pieces that each represent one of the characters in the story, and the moves could represent actual things that happen, mostly murders, on either side of the conflict. This is giving me creative goosebumps it's so cool.

This may be one of the most diabolically unique chess sets I've seen. I love the "snuffing out" of captured pieces. And, I suppose, the candles could act as a timer of sorts. Well done

I love the little "wedge wedge wedge" that pops up when youre starting to wedge the clay... and a candlestick chess set is totally amazing! Ridiculous, but in an amazing way! Why does pottery keep reminding me of baking? The way you laid out all those pawns after you shaped them, they look just like buns or cookies sitting neatly on their baking sheet... little round guys waiting to go in the oven... making a candlestick out of bread probably wouldn't work very well, though. But a chess set out of bread sounds doable, if short-lived! Making a chess set is cool as an artistic challenge because you have to get all the pieces looking right for their individual identities, while also at the same time looking right together as a set with all the others. I think you did pretty great at that here! The candlestick idea really makes it all come together. I'm on the edge of my seat watching you smooth those tiles... nine, eight, seven... you made it! Fantastic! The relief indeed! "these are black olives now" made me giggle. The food comparisons just keep coming! Wow, those tiles went really neatly onto that board! They're so tidy and square! And it's so satisfying watching you wipe them clean after putting on the grout... and then lighting all the candles! Perfection! Oh man, and putting out the candles as the pieces are taken... this set makes for some kinda dangerous but VERY cool games of chess. Oops, I seem to have liveblogged the whole video into this comment... not sure how that happened... in my defense, it was a great video.

Great video, really loved the concept! I do have to say that it seems no one noticed but the pieces were set up wrong :) The queen must stand on her own colour, and you have her on the "e" file instead. As well, the king is the tallest piece, in almost all sets, so while they are technically set up wrong, they do actually visually look correct based on the height order, which is kind of funny. They look awesome though, and the time crunch was a real nail-biter!

Hello, this is a housekeeping question. How do you wash/clean your towels and cloths. I am assuming they do not go in the traditional washing machine or clay would solidify in the pipes. And secondly, where do you wash your hands. Are there systems that have special traps for this kind of water? I used to work in the dental field many yrs ago…trying to remember the system. Thank you and I really enjoy watching you work. Checkmate! Thanks

@@PotterytothePeople I don't disagree, I just think it would make me not want to actually use it, like the wax would be building up as the game went on making it more difficult to play.
