That thing that you were always told you would "understand when you're older"? The adults don't actually know what the heck is going on either. You just put on your best brave face for the kids so they grow up thinking that someone is in control and understands things, rather than having them face the truth that we're all just muddling through and making it up as we go. Don't get me wrong. There are some "adult" things that you figure out, mostly just out of survival, but most adults would throw it all away to be able to go back to a time when we could just make mud pies and laugh at poop jokes.

And when he did, it's because someone said "play it now" even though the main disaster isn't happening yet and so he played it in very slow motion while looking at trees and it was never played again after that.
