I don't think you'll see this but if you add a little bit of baby oil (like a drop to a lot of clay) and work it through it can make it softer and easier to use. It'll become very soft to sculpt! :)!!!
@khl1tty2142 жыл бұрын
does this work with air dry clay?
@csawada-jorgensen90462 жыл бұрын
@@khl1tty214 I wouldn't use baby oil with air dry clay since the moisture in air dry clay is not oil based. Incorporating a small amount of water into air dry clay is usually a better choice. I will warn though, using air dry clay and not sealing it with a spray and painting on it can sometimes re-soften the clay and you'll encounter issues from it.

if you add petroleum jelly to the clay it helps to soften it up, all polymer clay gets pretty hard if it’s cold or old, but this trick can really help, you can brush on isopropyl alcohol over the surface before you bake and this helps to smooth the surface and remove dust and finger prints :)

Ahhh its so cute!!! I made one myself like a month ago. It was such a fun project. but legit, your little you is the literal cutest!! If I may suggest a way to fix that glue patch on top of her head... *Take some more hair, lay it on top of half of the patch but falling down the side and make sure its perpendicular between your eyebrows and glue it like normal. Once its dry flip it over the opposite way its laying (you can flat iron/blow dry while you hold/heat it to crimp it/make a fold) then do it again with another piece of hair right next to the other one and flip that the opposite way. This creates a "natural" looking part in the hair. For just a smooth look for like ponys and buns just take one piece of hair and lay it on the head towards the front, parallel to your eyebrows like you're about to make some suuper long bangs. Glue that down and flip it over, creasing it. Blend the curls with the hair underneath and voila. If you wanna see an example of what I'm talking about, check out @Hextian's doll repainting channel. He makes wig wefts for the dolls he redesigns. His channel is amazing.

Oh! For the whole glue deal at the top of the head, all you have to do is glue on some chunks of hair the opposite way you want them to lay, and then flip it over. And then, if needed, do it the other way too. I'd suggest checking out Dollightful's videos for some tips and tricks, because I'm not very good at explaining it here. XD

Hi, I'm late to the party as usual, but I wanted to suggest (if you still have your doll) using poster putty to stick her eyes on. It won't be permanent, strictly speaking, but it'll get them stuck on there pretty well.

Depending on the kind of clay you're using, you can use water to help smooth it out before its dried (or cured), and/ or you can sand it after the clay is set to help get some of the unwanted texture off the surface! I 100% recommend dollightful's channel for cool tips and tricks for sculpting :)

Heeeeey your work is gorgeous!! You might have not been sure about how working with the clay was turning out but from this end of things the end result is won-der-ful. Like. Wow. Sculpey is definitely one of the better ones for sculpture work because you can get good clean lines with it and it doesn’t go powdery, but yeah, it can be frustrating to smooth out. One of my instructors suggested using lighter fluid - like, painting it on in thin layers over problem areas where you get nicks from your nails and letting it COMPLETELY EVAPORATE from the project - and then sanding it smoother once it was baked and set, but frankly I was never brave enough to try it out. 😰 But on a different note, when pieces fall off, this brand also has “Liquid Sculpey” which can be used to seal seams and fill gaps and then baked again to set. There are videos out there for using it, I think. Anyway, I could go on all day about how cool it was to see you tackle this project, but I’ll cut it short here and finish it off with THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing the process!!
