The new Drum machine - CRUM DRUM is now for sale here: www.thonk.co.uk/shop/crum-drum/
@matteoini10 ай бұрын
hi, but in this version (in the video) it is not possible to insert the clock in? :( Next week I'll order your new car on thonk!
@bloopbleepnothinghere5 ай бұрын
Why did you change the design 😢? I much prefer the knobs per channel, having to use a knob to switch instruments makes jamming like this impractical. Bummer.

I specifically like how there's no setting of the beats... it's all self-generated. If one isn't too picky about the drum beat, hit Play and off you go. Neat project, and thanks for sharing the code. 👍
@AlbertNystrom Жыл бұрын
Yes! I find it pretty refreshing not having full control over the beat. And you have some control over the beat by lowering the probability of certain instruments. If there's to much snare in a beat for example, you could just lower the probability of the snare!

It's cool with a machine like this to just record for a couple hours and then chop it up into usable bits for later use.

I love the sound, but I only really like randomness as a jumping off point. I do like my songs to sound close if not the same each time though, being able to control it with a bsp or the like where I can save patterns rather than have a different one each performance that may or may not fit with the other synth parts would really make this attractive to me. Because the pure sounds themselves are so unique and cook sounding, in a sort of industrial kind of way. Such good stuff.

Three more questions: 1. On your chassis you have a "Beat" button that is not connected to anything... true? In the video you are only pushing the "Play" button, is this the button that goes to the "generate" pin in the schematic? 2. Where is the LED of the Play button connected to? In the schematic, there is no 4th LED... 3. In the end of your video you show the guts of your machine. Is there a reason for breaking out an extra 3.5mm socket from the UDA1334s output? Or just extension... Thanks mate for sharing this project with us, and for answering that quickly ;-)

And a last question: In your Schematic you write about wiring of the pots and that all pots except the TEMPO pot have the usual 3.3V/GND connections. How is the TEMPO pot different?
@AlbertNystrom Жыл бұрын
It's because I found it easiest to program it that way. When you turn the tempo pot to The right it spits out a lower value. That value is the ammount of milliseconds between Each step, if that makes sense. So it's just wired opposite to the other pots!

Would be cool to have MIDI In/Through and some matrix with contacts (to use LDR sensors, some other sensors). Can it be done with the semi-analog part for generators (envelopes could be generated by Teensy or other controller) and the effect part to be made with Teensy? BTW, is it possible to made all this with Raspberry Pico? Maybe without complex digital effects.
