As one of the 5 Arlan mains watching this video I will say. He may be one of the worst characters in this game, but with Sunday's release Arlan is actually significantly more viable than before and I've found a lot of luck running him even against MoC 12 and clearing alright. And all at E0 S0 investment without Robin, so honestly if you actually like him and genuinely wanna use him, it's not that bad.

If you run around with Arlan on the map and don't ever go to the anchors... this was supposed to help him not get knocked out as soon as you enter combat. Obviously, its value has decreased significantly to the point of being worthless now, since Aventurine gives a shield off the bat without needing technique points. Wasn't worth too much originally if you didn't mind shelling out a few TP for shields anyway with Gepard Agreed that it would have been so much more useful without the whole 'first two turns' clause. Might have actually been usable then =/

@@gaerekxenos Arlan is a bunch of small changes away from being an actually usable unit: Losing the two turn limit on his E4, his Technigue not bringing him to 50% health to activate a bunch of his kit; him getting his damage values nerfed between the beta and 1.0 release. Also, his A6 is just as bad as his E4, because the entire thing only activates upon entering a battle at 50% health.

Arlan is a great sub-dps for free to play players IMO, he pairs very well with some of the best f2p units in the game, his relics are easy to farm and with eidolons he can put out some very good dmg, I would recomend giving him a bit more crit chance, since most of his dmg comes from loosing hp, so having him crit more or less consistently is vital. He is also Blade's best friend along side Jingliu.

As someone who used Arlan a lot until I got better DPS's, Arlan hits like a truck in earlier world levels, the problem is he falls off hard in later world levels. Also would argue that his best in slot LC is Clara's so he has a bunch more healing in his kit.

In hindsight I use Arlan's basic attack quite a bit. Not enough to put max ranks in it, but it's useful for managing his HP loss - he can take a hit, but I don't want his health going below 1/4 full unless he has a hefty shield up. The damage boost from his talent makes up for it, plus it's one more skill point for allies who bother with those things. Arlan's not universally good or bad, he's just one of the more situational characters. (Not to the degree of Yanquing though. Poor Yanquing.)

Keep in mind the sphere - cord relic you gave him only buff the skill DMG by 20% if his Crit Rate reaches 70%, otherwise the buff doesn't apply. A Talents 10 Sunday gives him +20% Crit Rate and a ton of Crit DMG so reaching 70% Crit Rate without sacrificing Crit DMG it's much more doable than before, when only Jingliu could use those relics comfortably thanks to giving herself 50% Crit Rate in her special state.
