Easiest mould release is some wd40 spray it on then let it sit for a few mins and then wipe it clean, rinse and repeat until u can put some masking tape on it and it wont stick and presto mould will release. Just dont use to much and wipe it down nicely.
@LarsStrandenArt16 сағат бұрын
oh wow wd40, didn't even consider that! Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely try that! This time I used a petrorelease mold spray which I figured _should_ have worked but I only did one pass and didn't wipe or test with masking tape, that's a great tip :) Thanks!

I really love watching your videos, even though I don't make anything with resign I always enjoy your content. When you make your moulds for pouring, have you tried filling it with water first to check for leaks? I have seen other creators doing that and could save a little bit of heartache. I mean I love watching your decent into resign madness, but ya know... a little knowledge and all that :)
@LarsStrandenArtКүн бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊 Yeah I've seen that too, I think a part of me is just afraid of what will happen to the painted things when the get wet.. Which makes very little sense seeing as I'm just about to make it wet anyways but in a way that can't be undone 😅 I should just toughen up and try that next time I guess 😄

It looks epic though! The tarnished look may not be entirely true to the source, but it makes it look even more mysterious and old. Love it! Who cares what it looks like in the back? And those tiny bubbles make it seem as if the pieces are breathing, or doing...something :) Well done!

I love your videos, the sword looks amazing! Regarding the resin, I've used a few different types over the years and I've found that the quick setting ones seem to turn out better and with less mistakes ie ruining paint etc. I know it "feels" safer to use the longer setting ones but as long as you're prepped enough the faster ones are better in my opinion.
@LarsStrandenArt10 сағат бұрын
oh really? That is some great insight, I hadn't really though about that. That does make a lot of sense though! That _is_ definitely the reason why I've gone with the long setting ones (and the hope that more air has time to escape but I'm not sure that's actually the case). Going with a faster set one would also cut the total waiting time down with several days so I think I might have to take your advice and try that for the next epoxy project :) Thanks!
@w1zard20039 сағат бұрын
@@LarsStrandenArt no problem at all. That's just my experience though so maybe try a small one first. The one I used had a working time of 30mins and a total set time of 12 hours. You might have to do smaller layers though as they usually can't be poured in large amounts
@LarsStrandenArt5 сағат бұрын
ah yeah that's true.. I guess I've usually ended up doing layered pours anyways so should be fine 😄 The brand I have the easiest access to has a 24h short set version (as opposed to the 72h long one) so I'll give that a whirl!

Takk for at du delte prosessen! I have to say that even though it seems like it must have been frustrating at some point, it's still a beautiful piece of art - and funny to watch, of course :) When I began painting with acrylics after I had been painting with watercolours for years, there was a lot of frustration included in the process, but usually we learn from our mistakes. Don't give up, enjoy the ride ❤

Thank you so much, I appreciate you! And thanks for sharing, glad to hear I'm not the only one who struggles when changing media :) I'm super happy to not be doing all digital work these days, but CG renders at least have one thing going for them in that they don't usually eat your colors or leak out all over your desk 😄

Hi Lars! The end product looks amazing, you definitely wouldn't know that resin is your arch enemy from those beauty shots. I'm a huge movie fan and I love practical effects movies like The Thing and Alien, and while you have inspired me to pick up some polymer clay and UV resin (I have not worked up the courage for epoxy resin yet), I don't think I'm ready to tackle the slimy creatures from old horror movies yet. I love Lord of the Rings and I know it's chock-full of some of the most iconic props and set pieces ever and I know you've done all sorts of different projects, but I'm wondering if there's a movie besides LotR that inspired you to create dioramas and if you have some movies dioramas that you'd like to tackle in the future one day - like a dream project of sorts? Big fan of your channel, keep up the great work!
@LarsStrandenArt10 сағат бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊 The fact that you've been inspired to start playing around with clay from these videos warms my frosty heart to the core :) Oh there are so many! Tons of universes from both film and games that I'll definitely want to dive into, Dark Crystal, Mass Effect, Discworld, Ninja Turtles, Toxic Avengers, Starship Troopers and Alien just to name a few off the top of my head! Hopefully, as the audience grows (fingers crossed), I'll be able to do more and more obscure projects and still have people want to check in 😄
