Great little fixture!!!! Saves about 20 SF of space in your shop!

I love tools and jigs that are functional but don't take up a lot of shop space. Great design.

Thanks James! Yeah, with a small shop jigs like this are almost a necessity. :)

im making a tower binding jig similar to LMI's offering. i will now look at incorporating a removable pin in the base to give the fixture more functionality. thanks for the inspiration.

Ooo, cool idea! Yeah I’m all about multi-function jigs. :) 🙌🏻

That’s pretty awesome. I never understood why those pin routers have to be so huge. This is perfect

It is working beautifully. I just used it for two more tops today. - Eric

Totally agree! Especially in lutherie, pin routers can be a heck of a lot smaller and still serve the same function. :)

@@zachlefebvre4825 I agree, for acoustic instruments. If you make a lot of electric guitars 3 HP and precision given by mass can be good...if you have floor space... my shop shed has space but floor not for minimum 650 lbs!!!🤯. Also need 220 Volts.

Too bad they discontinued Shop Fox W 1736 it is middle ground using larger router. I got used one but dude lost pins so just got machinist friend to make pins & was going to set up today!

@@trinacria1956 - Wow, sounds like a beast! Yeah, I suppose when routing larger cavities for solid body electrics an actual pin router would work better.

It's a great video, no question. I will probably try and adapt something like this. Could you make a duplicate video without the music? It was pretty distracting, and get's louder when it should be softer.🙂

Sorry about the music and thanks for the feedback! I’ve changed the way I do videos so it’s much easier to understand me.

There are big expensive machines to do this? What a scam. This is such a practical, inexpensive and easier solution.
@treehouseguitars Жыл бұрын
Haha, yeah they are huge and usually have a foot pedal to drop the bit into the wood. So likely they are much nicer to use, but cost-wise, space-wise, etc this jig wins in my opinion. :)

The background music is too loud. And you should get a real microphone. I made something like this back in the 90s using a Dremel.
