I might use my old charcoal canister from the back of my Ford e250 and drill a hole in the bottom for a drain valve and use the 1/2 id od fittings on it and strap it to the frame rail on the passenger side of the van

Higher mileage engines with more blow by would benefit from this as well.

Correct! Good point! As the piston rings wear out and bore clearances increase there will be more blow by! Thanks for the info! Thanks for watching!

higher mileage and direct injection vehicles will benefit. In-take will build up carbon restricting air flow. You dont have to worry about this in port injected vehicle due to the fuel self cleaning the intake bores and valves. havent looked at mine but after 196K i bet its pretty dirty.

It won't catch oil if it's connected to the intake after the filter. It's just sucking in fresh air into the crank case at that location.
@adanreyes77902 жыл бұрын
You don't know how PCV works. Research it more. The intake creates a suction and pulls in the pressure building up In the crank case.
@ioijiopjkiopjkp2 жыл бұрын
@@adanreyes7790 that's literally what I said
@adanreyes77902 жыл бұрын
@@ioijiopjkiopjkp there is a vacuum in the intake which sucks air out of the crank case. The intake dose not push air into the crank case. The reason for the oil catch can is to collect the oil vapors from the crank case so it doesn't get sucked into the intake and end up making the manifold dirty and valves dirty. From what I understand you think fresh air is going into the crank case which is wrong. Pressure builds up in the crank case due to it seeping past the piston rings when the engine if firing. This pressure would blow out oil seals and increase oil pressure which would not be good for the motor so there is the PCV system which stands for Positive Crank Ventilation. Most cars have valves for it so air can't go into the crank case but only go out from the valve. Watch a few videos on KZbin it is a very interesting topic and usually the hoses and valves go bad and are a common cause as to why vehicle run poorly due to having a vacuum leak. It's a simple but complicated idea with modern cars with MAF and MAP sensors
@ioijiopjkiopjkp2 жыл бұрын
@@adanreyes7790 please look at a PCV system diagram, there are 2 hoses connected to the crank case. The hose connected to the PCV valve is connected to the intake manifold AFTER the throttle body, this is under vacuum and pulls fumes out of the crank case. There is another hose that goes from the crank case to the intake manifold IN FRONT of the throttle body, there is no vacuum at this location. The vacuum from the PCV pulls fresh air into the crank case through this hose.
@adanreyes77902 жыл бұрын
@@ioijiopjkiopjkp yes but everything filter back has a vacuum. The way it introduces fresh air is through an angled intake port for that fresh air inlet which only takes fresh air in under certain circumstances. It's complicated but yes you are right a lot of cars are like that where there is 2 ports

Whats stopping the oil from being suck back into the intake
@figmojustfigmo38202 жыл бұрын
Oil is heavier than air. Oil sinks to bottom of can. Air floats to the top and is sucked back into the intake

Catch can needs to go after the pcv not on the intake side (fresh air side). A fuel filter even if you used it in the correct orientation won't hold much and will probably become blocked causing crankcase pressure. You would have been better off not doing anything as you didn't accomplish anything.

the lines are to small you need at least 13 mm lines to keep the crankcase pressures low.. those tiny fuel lines. will just increase the crank case pressure/ and adding 10 + horsepower...... state and prove you facts....dyno run before and after..again prove your statements before you post a video here..
