I actually think there is a different meaning for creepy and spooky. Creepy to me evokes everything that really aims at being the most horrifying as possible (like serious Horrormovies). It is not really the vibe I like for Halloween. Halloween is supposed to be fun, cute but also obviously inspired by classical Horror elements like witches, Jack o Lanterns, werewolves, bats etc. But it is more bon enfant, and I think the word spooky really encapsulates that feeling for me.

You know, I wasn't sure about it up until you started adding all the accoutrements, but I think it all came together. Oddly enough, I think the thick brown gloves really made it go from pastel witch costume to this is a literal Final Fantasy character a la Vivi from FFIX. If you added horsehair braiding to the insides of the capes to make it flare out on its own, and paired it with a skirt and thick petticoat, you'd really nail that 2000's anime witch girl vibe. I think my favorite parts are the broom, hat, and the little basket and its bat.

This season is that of wisteria, apple blossom, clematis & kowhai all flowering here, & I feel like you could come up with some absolutely awesome pastel-witch designs using any of those flower shapes & colour schemes for inspiration...? The separates approach Kira suggested is really great for NZ spring too, with our mad 4-seasons-in-one-day weather at this time of year. It's all about the layers!! 😅
