Soon as this popped on my feed HAD TO WATCH! I knew when I saw your big beautiful smile this was going to be a winner! You chose some BEAUTIFUL fabric. I absolutely love it. I'll be working on my Holyoke tops next week. I actually want to make a couple short waisted cardis for mine since I'll wear to work. Otherwise I'd be sleeveless completely but the office is to cold 😆. Glad the bum adjustment worked out!

Hi Nateida, thank you! Totally meant to thank you and Karina for your help! That stuff you sent through was so helpful! Thank you so much for watching. I need to make some cardis too, possibly JLH saddle cardi. I did find a free pattern for a shrug cardi so may also give that a go. Yes, I wouldnt normally wear this dress sleeveless either cant believe I got my arms out on the vlog LOL confidence must be growing! x

@@Penguinandpear Oh do share, who is the free shrug cardigan by? I have Itch to Stitch Bolero, but it's not in my measurements, but need to double check. Yes, wear those arms out lady, you looked just fine.

I love watching everything that you show. Could you do a fitting tutorial? What reasons do you make some of the adjustment? Things like, looking at a pattern envelope, what says you need to do a FBA? Keep all the tutorials coming, I need more of them in my life!
@Penguinandpear
@Penguinandpear 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shsron. I've got something along these lines in the pipeline so do stay tuned. But in short I base an fba on what cup size the pattern is drafted for. In the case of this pattern its drafted for a b cup and I'm a d. So I did a 2 inch fba. But yes I will be doing something on this probably in the new year.

Lovely dress, really love the fabric. It always seems the same that when you have the least amount of time, all most everything which could go wrong, probably does!! It turned out fine in the end, and should you make it again, it would be really interesting to see the alterations that you made. Well done for hanging in there.

Well,, the dress turned out well in the end, didn’t it. Have to say though, I have been sewing since I was about 12 and I’m nearly 63 now, but I almost always make some mistake or other when sewing a garment. I always think,, bloody hell, what did I do that for? But, they almost always work out in the end, so you’re definitely not alone in this. Looks lovely and I was actually eyeing this pattern up myself, the minute I first saw it xxx
@Penguinandpear
@Penguinandpear 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie, thanks for saying that - its so helpful (not just to me but most sewists) to know that everyone makes mistakes. I always try to own them because it does help others I find. Good luck if you make it, not a quick sew but for someone who has been sewing a long time like you, youll whizz it up. I'll def make another. Thanks for watching x

Just found this video. The dress looks lovely and you hair suits you worn up as shown in the photo. I am making a shoe bag at the moment, you would think that was easy wouldn't you? Not in this case. I managed to miss out some of the marking for one of the rows of pockets, now I have to try and get these markings out and start again. The moral is - pay attention to what you are doing and don't sew when you are tired.

I hate to break it to you - many of us burn more easily as we get older. This is beautiful fabric on you. I think when you wear a color that echoes your hair color, it’s very attractive. Those of us with less colorful hair can’t dress to the same effect.
@Penguinandpear
@Penguinandpear 5 жыл бұрын
Ah is that true? I'd not heard that was the case, thanks for letting me know. I've picked up some factor 50, though I have to be careful not to cover too much as I have Vit D deficiency. I bet you'd wear a dress well, I often think its not so much about the look or colouring as confidence, although I dont have that so may be talking rubbish there LOL Thanks for watching x
