I've seen a couple mini terrariums use fittonias in them. You were the first to mention the cutting didn't have any roots yet. Thank you! That is EXACTLY what I was wondering. Now I know I can take a cutting off of mine & try rooting it that way 🙂

How do they get oxygen if the container is tight sealed?

The lid must be opened like twice a week or the carbon can kill them. I have 8 master cultures of different springtails.

Why they are called spring tails they neither have springs nor a tail ???

It’s because they use their behinds to “spring” in the air a few inches when threatened. They might have a small tail but I’m not entirely sure

They just releases CO2 and the springtails will provide O2 back. It’s a tiny little world.

Not a silly question:) they are often sold in reptile/amphibian shops & also get them online. But you can find them under damp leaves outside:)

he probably buys them, but ive found them outside. typically near large numbers of isopods/woodlice
