In this video, I’m going to show you how I made this fun historically adequate Victorian corset that I painted and dyed in impressionism style. This was a fun and challenging project, and I’m so proud of how it turned out.

Never would I have thought to paint a corset! what a lovely, lovely idea. I have been putting off my corset because the arthritis in my hands is giving me some bombastic side-eye, but I might just have to so I can paint mine instead of making a silk cover.

Ariel if you want to set a fabric dye without buying special solutions, just put salt in the water. plain old table salt, a couple of big handfuls, add your fabric once the salt has dissolved, leave it for a few hours or a day, rinse and repeat if necessary.

the ammount of joy I feel seeing you making this burn test is redicioulus. I've been taught how to identify fiber contents in fabrics with the burn test and it's just like seeing someone of my own ... tribe?... when you do that test. also, I'm not at that part of the video yet but I already spotted the simplicol. I've been using the washing machine dye so much lately.. I just have to many pieces of clothing that I don't wear because they are not black. simplicol helps with that.
