I Made A Vine Lamp That Replicates The Sun (Plant+Lamp)

This lamp is alive and can possibly feel pain like the rest of us, but that is unknown to science at the moment. A few years ago I had the idea to create a lampshade out of real leaves. The piece designed itself once I found the driftwood, which looks to be the core "heartwood" of a tree, with the softer sapwood having been eaten away over time by water. The shade is my favorite vine that I've been growing over the years for this purpose.

Very cool! Regarding the wax polish, can you use it for tabletops or benches (surfaces your clothes or skin come in contact with) as well, or will the oil and wax rub off? Or is it used under a poly coating strictly as a conditioner?
@A.Mere.Creator
@A.Mere.Creator 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use it with anything made of wood and more. It soaks in, and you wipe off the excess, and if it’s a high use area you might need to re apply once every year or two. For table tops made of softer woods like pine I go for a poly because it’s a plastic film that protects it. But for harder woods like the beech IKEA table tops you can use both (never at the same time) the only reason I used poly is because you cannot stain and use the wax oil very well, but it’s possible.
@EPSTomcat11
@EPSTomcat11 3 жыл бұрын
@@A.Mere.Creator Thanks for the quick reply :) By using both do you mean first using the wax, and then the poly on top to seal it? Or do you mean using the wax on top of the poly?
@EPSTomcat11
@EPSTomcat11 3 жыл бұрын
@@A.Mere.Creator Also regarding staining, do you mean that using the wax directly on top of stain will cause problems?
@A.Mere.Creator
@A.Mere.Creator 3 жыл бұрын
The Oil beeswax mix, and the poly are two different finishes, they’re not used together. And oil can move around the stain you put on and cause streaks

I'm an engineering student, struggling in college. Seeing you make things that's basically an aesthetic application, and very practical might I add, of what I learned in uni makes me wanna do better in my studies, even though I know that I won't be able to make those as good as you did, or make them at all lol. I really love your content btw. ❤

5:48 I've heard of tree-huggers, but you're taking it to the next level! :-) This is a very creative concept and your execution was perfect. I love the copper wire cage and the beautiful way the driftwood came to life with the wax finish. No matter what kind of a day I'm having, I always know I'm going to be smiling after watching one of your videos. 6:38 Proof that cats don't have owners, they have staff! ;-)
