I just came upon your review. I am making this dress and I have had so much trouble understanding how the collar works. I spent hours trying to get it right. I'm glad it isn't just me. I found the instructions were lacking in detail.

Yes. It's been a while but I think they kept calling it a collar when it was a really just a lapel. It was so confusing! Best of luck with it. It's a very pretty dress, eventually. 👗🌸🥰

I am trying to do the above dress but like you I am finding the pattern very difficult to understand and I am finding the collar really difficult. I am reminded of my grandmother who said don't buy Butterick pattens as they are hard to understand and she was a dressmaker.

Yep, the instructions weren't great. It's not really a collar, it's just lapels but they explain it as if you're contracting a collar. Really frustrating! Good luck with it! It is a cute dress, it just has badly written instructions. 👗💚🧵

I'm working with this pattern right now and I am totally lost on how to attach the pieces around the neck. Please, please, please, can you tell me how you did it? I cannot figure it out.

Attaching the front bodice to the back bodice at the neckline is tricky. Don't focus on the edge of the piece. the match point is at the seaplane, not the edges of the pattern pieces. Stitch some red thread into the match point, cut a few notches into the edge so you can spread the fabric and get the two watchpoints right on top of each other. You can hand sew the seam, if it's easier than trying to do it by machine. My sewing machine really annoys me sometimes. You have more control with hand sewing. Best of luck with it. 🥰👗
