AO and Tukan are probably best free plug-ins I have ever used.

I love, love, love AO's SSQ! It's such a sweet sounding EQ that I use in every mix - from individual tracks to master and drum busses!

Man Studio One design is top-notch. You just love working on it. The moment i tried Studio One, it looked very familiar.

I use Studio One too. Unfortunately I’m unhappy with my payed plugins like SSL and Slate monthly subscription. With every update on those plugins the CPU usage increases and the GUI performance goes lagging drastically. It’s painful when mixing huge projects. I rather than started to use the native plugins for better performance but don’t want to leave the analog world. So, how is Analog Obsession uses the CPU, are they friendly working in ST1?

Hey bud, no problems here with AO plugins and Studio One, they work great.

Does anyone know any good fl studio templates that mimic a console staging? like using freeware plugs compression monitoring etc.. ?

They have quite a lot of stuff. I am thinking of using a plugin to kind of pre-condition the signal in DAW before it hits guitar amp plugins. That's because I find most of them are very sensitive to the levels that hit them, especially the Softube ones. Too little signal and it does not sound good., Too much and I get a lot of noise and even digital clipping. What would you suggest? A channel strip might be over kill. I dunno.
@realhomestudioofficial Жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd say channel strip, analog obsession has a few pre's too which might work for you 👍

Loved the video, was looking for someone to make a vocal chain with free or stick plugins to kind of change things up and this is like ring on the finger for me.

may i ask , do I record with effects on ? or just record the vocals raw ?. I only have an audio interface and cardioid mic
@realhomestudioofficial Жыл бұрын
sure thing, so you typically want to record your vocals raw. This will enable you to apply effects in the mixing stage to sculpt the sound but when you're recording you may enjoy having an effect like reverb for example in your headphones (this won't print when you're recording), drop in a reverb plugin and activate the monitor in your daw for this.

@@realhomestudioofficial its because i always feel discouraged to record myself with only an interface ... looking at these high end producers and engineers with their analog out of the box preamps and whatnot. it seems like recording straight into the daw feels not right . thats why i asked the question. thanks alot sir

hey bud, please don't feel discouraged, let me tell you an industry secret that was passed to me back in the 90's. The most important thing by a long way is the song and the performance. I record my vocal direct to interface and have achieved some awesome results. Here's a FREE Vocal EQ cheat sheet to help you out when you're mixing your next vocal. Keep making awesome music! realhomestudio.com/vocaleq

@@melorams22 Hey brother. When I get an idea for a song and I just want to get it on "tape" I grab the closest guitar and just use an eq to cut out the low end on both the guitar and vocals. I noticed the vocals were always better, and I just had to add a compressor, and delays, reverbs, modulation to suit the track

Thanks for showing off these plugins, they look great. I have to criticize. I find mixing channels use very amateur music as their mix material.

I want to love AO, and appreciate the plugins being free/donationware, but unfortunately they just don't sound good to me.
@blakproducer97919 ай бұрын
They sound good brother 👍🏾
@cdbaxul47269 ай бұрын
@@blakproducer9791 I really tried and gave them a fair go: I wondered whether I could recreate my mixing flow just from free plugins, most of them AO. But then just slapping my trusty SSL channel strip back on made such a huge difference in sound it wasn't even funny. So while I totally get the importance of having these sorts of tools readily available and accessible for free, they can't really compare in sound quality. Kudos to the guy for creating them though, I guess if someone is just starting on this journey and has a zero budget for plugins, they can be a good stepping stone towards something better sounding.
