Nice build, here are two suggestions. 1. Weld a substantial piece of steel at the bottom of the chute inside of the drum with close clearance to the blades. 2. Weld a backer bar behind the blades so that the bolts only have to hold the blades in place. The bar will absorb the impact of the blades contacting the wood.

The feeder shute should be longer than your arm, for obvious reasons.

There is a trick for the feeding. If the knives are angled upwards there will be clearance of the edge when cutting and this makes it easier for the cutter to "pull" the branches in by itself. If the knives are mounted flat there will only be gravity feeding the branches. Of course this "trick" only goes so far. Hence the hydraulic systems for feeding. Although I have seen purely mechanical infeeds as well. (And I do love your work. A new video from Make it Extreme is happy hour for me)

That's awesome. I built one from scratch as well a few years ago. Mine is pto driven and attaches to my tractor.

Great project as usual. Watching the guy pushing some of those branches in though, made me think their next project will be an extreme prosthetic limb! I'd still watch it tho...

Nice job - works much better than I would have guessed, so you did your research. I am not a safety hawk, but I really think the input chute should longer than your arms will stretch. Because they will if it gets ahold of you. Maybe it just looks scary on camera.

your work is exceptional, with incredible qualities! I'm a fan! I would really like you to make a small copper crusher to make 💸 😁😁 the principle is with 3 knives rotating on an axis and two counter knives which cut the copper into small pieces. Then he drills a 3mm grid once the diameter is correct. Then the copper falls below on a canvas mat fixed on a wooden base which is on the vibrating metal support! the plate is slightly tiltable and underneath there is a blower which blows the crushed materials. Lighter sheaths go one way and heavier copper goes the other way. the blower, two small vibrating motors, and a 3kw main motor driven by belts speed 700t/m I think that with a video like this it would get millions of views, a lot of people love the field of recycling. 💪💪💪💪 in any case bravooo 🙏💪💪

As a noob welder, I was trying to understand why you chose different welding types when you did, MIG/TIG. I couldn't figure it out, and would be super grateful if you could explain. Also, the first branches looked like olive.. (if they're not, you can tell I'm a complete noob at botany (or whatever the word is) as well, however it gave me an idea... What about a olive oil press as a project? Really admire the quality of your work.

No reason in particular, from what I see, he may have a flux core welder. It a bit dirty and harder on thin stuff. The flywheel he tig for better control, you got time to see if it a good weld. It one of those whatever machine is closer, and tig make nice video.

Next time you can save 2 hours of build time and get the same result by not having a feedchute at all, just open blades you can fall into. Theres a reason the chute is longer than an arm, lmao
