Juniper is getting so big! Do you remember when you and Chelsea got large pieces of wood, drew a random shape, cut them out, and then painted them? You should see if Juni can "draw" a shape for you and for Chels!

When I built my panel like this, I literally just bought a single 4'x8' 1/8" sheet of plywood and glued the panels to it. It's thin, lightweight, holds its shape perfectly, and you can't even see the wood behind the panels. Just a much better, much easier way of going about this whole thing. The cool thing about using this thin plywood is that I was able to adhere some LED strips along the back of the plywood and then space it out from the wall so that there's an ambient glow coming from the edges of the panel. Very cool effect. With these panels, you can also place LED strips directly behind them and it'll make the entire panel glow. Edit: for the glue, I also just used a spray on contact adhesive. You spray each component (the wood and the panel separately) let it get tacky, and then once you press them together, they're never coming apart again.

I have made a couple of decorative wood panels. If anyone plans on doing something like this, it is a lot faster/easier to use 1/4" or 1/2 " plywood instead of building a frame out of 2x4s. It will also be a lot lighter. For this porject you would have only need one cut down the center of a 4'x8' sheet (which Home Depot will do for free on their panel saw). Then use a french cleat on the back to mount it to the wall which would also add some separation to tuck the LEDs like tenhun did.

@@djClubMoney pretty much. Honestly these “sound” panels are pretty much only good for decoration. They don’t effectively defuse of absorb sound.

These panels have a hard plastic surface, so they will reflect and scatter higher frequencies only. Putting acoustic treatment (mineral wool/OC703/etc) would do next to nothing for mid and low end, unless they were able to pass through a “breathable” fabric. These panels do look incredibly cool though.
@dieterjones45272 жыл бұрын
Owen’s Corning aka pink panther insulation makes 4x8 sheets of rigid foam insulation that you can pick up at the hardware store. It’s 1.5 inches thick and somewhat sand-able after it’s primed. Would be a good candidate as a backer to glue the panels to with poly liquid nails. End result would probably way less and may have better sound deadening properties since it’s insulation. All that being said it’s really Ten Hundreds sick art skills that made these panels turn out the way they did and made this vid worth watching.

I think that it could have been interesting to paint the base colour of the panel, then used some masking tape to tape off a few of the random triangles in the area with the second colour was being painted. This way when you peeled them off you got a pop of the base colour in the other half. Dunno if I am explaining it right though.

Dude, these turned out awesome! Also, totally missed the ten hundred letters in the sketch panel until like the second or third reveal shot. As cool as they look on video, I bet they look so much cooler in real life. (Also, if they are not sound dampening enough, you can put some fiber full or batting in the spaces behind the panels. They sell in fabric department of art stores. It's pretty cheap and pretty much what is inside of most sound dampeners. Just deadens and vibrations or cavities that could echo.)

From experience, the quick epoxy you used that you thought was getting hard to squeeze out, there is normally a “cap” for if you don’t use it all, in the black handle part and if you don’t remove it you won’t be able to squeeze the handle all the way down. Maybe that was your issue lol
