OH MY GOODNESS do you give us SOOOO much in your tutorials, Marion!!! A pocket “with a nod to history”, how to make our own patterns, how to sew them up and then a beautiful modeling by you-it’s PERFECTION! Thank you, Marion. This is what I enjoy most: frugal sewing, living lightly, consuming less. There’s a saying I really like: Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without. Marion, you leave a small footprint on our earth. Bless you for it. I will definitely use these techniques. I really need a pattern for a pinny. Where I’m from we called it a jumper. By you, a jumper is a sweater. Very confusing. When I lived in England back in the 1970’s, my daughter spent work days with a family across the street. They “hoovered” their floors. We vacuumed. In my daughter’s mind it became “bacuum coobering.” So cute! 💜💜💜
@marionsworld246 ай бұрын
I hadn't heard that saying before but I thoroughly agree with the sentiment! I get confused by the difference in terms... When someone said about my jumper I thought I wasn't wearing one. A jumper to me is something knitted or crocheted. Or a bought woolen top. 😅

@maramakesjournals23196 ай бұрын
Hi! I have an old Singer Futura from the 1980’s. It has a stitch for stretch fabrics. It’s a zig-zag with a parallel line of broken straight stitches. I tell you this because you may have a stitch like that on your machine. Happy stitching. 💜
@marionsworld246 ай бұрын
Zig zag will work perfectly. Just have a practice on a spare piece of fabric to get the stitch length right. It shouldn't be too close. I use the widest I can do, but modern machines will have more settings than I have. My machine is from 1959! You might have a stretch stitch already....🤔

Thank you for this video. I struggle with sewing knit but you made it look so easy. I’m going to just jump in and do it!😊

Absolutely.. just dive right in. How about thrifting an extra large man's jersey tee to cut up. You'll get enough usable fabric to practice on. .🤔

I’m not that far yet but you do make it look possible for me to make my own clothes as well! I never wear skirts (dresses yes) but you’ve got me considering those as well😀 The top and skirt look beautiful on you!, thanks for showing us!💖🍀

Good pattern making, Marion. I love the skirt idea and will try that for this summer. Haven't worn skirts for so long and I'm finding pants too warm for our increasing temperatures. I think the neckline you used is very flattering.

Same here! It’s too hot for pants, even shorts. 💜

Thanks Ann. I don't wear trousers very much. Even in winter I just layer up with warm tights and petticoats 😊

A second hand shop my sister went in had one attached to the counter. She said she would have loved one of them to give to her sister that sewed. The shopkeeper went in the back shop and brought out another. She paid £1 for it and brought it over for me....😊
