@Light-du4kc2 жыл бұрын
grid systems cause more traffic, but I guess you're objectively right about everything
@JasonMitchellofcompsci2 жыл бұрын
You can fix them by not having every road built up to the same level. Also, very major roads shouldn't be accessible by all smaller roads. By having easy right hand turn ons and offs you reduce the load on traffic lights. Over passes can be used to make a semi-major road continue without breaking up a very major road. Most non-grid systems have these features. The problem is the two never seem to be combined. The problem is when people do initial layout of grids they don't recognize that you want a distribution of road thicknesses. If you randomize it before the city is built the areas that need more traffic will be built around the more major roads. This is actually preferable to going with what roads are currently major. When you do road layout for a very small town (soon to be bigger) you should not assume that the current main street should remain the permanent main street and largest road. Call that old town main. Build a wider main street that is still business accessible, and then build a few other roads with space planned that they can be big enough to eventually not be business accessible. I just made your grid system actually handle traffic.

In my opinion Happy horn was the first great idea in the video Grid system makes a lot of traffic junctions which isn’t ideal for Driving around, and it causes a lot more traffic accidents compared to other systems I know America have used the Grid system a lot and and later gone away from it but that doesn’t change it being everywhere. In Europe the grid system isn’t that wildly spread because buildings was built and then the roads, but in America they built the roads and then the buildings. Personally i think the grid system looks satisfying, but it’s inconvenient for driving because you’ll be stuck in traffic a lot and more accidents honestly the street names isn’t something new. isn’t it already just random stuff? in addition to the normal street names like: 2nd, 1st, main, 3rd, park, 4th etc. The North, South, West, East dividers unfortunately won’t work if you drive on the other side of the road, because it would be upside down. and when driving on the South road you won’t even know if you’re driving south or north the happy horn is a nice addition:) and i have nothing against it the rankings would easily get corrupted and pay to win. And people would ignore the hierarchy especially if they were in the :(-tier

Simply the logistics of changing every non grid into a grid, removing buildings as not all buildings will be small or big but in between changing it back to a non-grid or making grids too big 3. The tiers on the numberplate could be forged 4. The bad tier would slow down the regular and faster tiers making them always around slow drivers 5. The conveyers would cause major slippage at the entrance and exit as the car would be pulled apart and compressed 6. Grids would be slow intersection after slow intersection and you could use google maps if you don't know the way Some of the other features didn't seem too bad though

I’m not sure fencing is the best option What I like is basically the bike lane has a seierate but if pavement on the other side that acts as a barrier Basically you extend the walkway but cut a decent sized part out about a meter off the road for bikes to use

@@compactcow not if the bike lane was too thin you don’t need as much space for bikes as cars since it’s a single person machine Plus to get into the Nike lane you would need to mount the kerb and that’s terrible for cars

Make sure to add more restrooms on long highways, would definitely reduce accidents by reducing the ... other accidents. Also, please mention public transportation.

Public transportation sucks and will never be good. It’s slow, less freedom, and way more expensive

While I know he's always objectively right, grids create more traffic because they require people to give way to people going the opposite direction at each intersection, and those turning make 90 degree turns, requiring greater speed reduction for turns

The point of the grid system is to be easy to navigate, and the new laws will offset any inefficiency of the grid system.

I personally think we could make a walking roads. I mean like zero cars purely for walking and make it accessible for everyone. I think call it sidewalk 2. No more cracked pavements or car blocking sideways u know. Specifically made for wheelchair and roller users and just all mobility aids. Sidewalk 2 is the future
