I "only" need US 12, but have still mostly used men's shoes for about a decade. It will be interesting to discover if some models will have room for my potato-like big toes - it would be nice to have one good pair of black shoes and another pair brown that I could wear from weddings to wakes.

I wear an 11, usually an 11 wide, so it's a crap shoot whether my size is available or not. I also have weird duck feet where the front of my foot spreads out a lot but I have narrow heels, which makes it hard to find a good fit. For tennis shoes I've given up and have just been getting men's, and that's been working fine, but I have very little luck finding "pretty" shoes. I am in desperate need of some dress shoes (my last pair, some flats that are well over a decade old and have seen a lot of use, are crumbling) so I'm strongly considering ordering these. (Even with the discount they're still a little pricey for me, but quality and longevity are worth considering. Plus I love Jessica.)

Yes! My father had drop foot from a spinal injury and had a custom sole on his right shoe so he didn’t fall on his face when walking on carpet. He definitely couldn’t walk as well as Jessica, for sure. 😂 Generally, he wore moccasins at home, as we had tile floors, but he wore his custom pair to work. He always used a cane as well, for stability.

I, too, have EDS, and I once dislocated my ankle stepping off the sidewalk. It really made me feel better about myself when I had the epiphany that I am NOT my body, I am just IN my body. ❤️
@ShenanigansinMotion8 ай бұрын
Oh gosh yes! That used to happen to me! But I sprained my ankles so much that they're essentially elastic. Upside, they don't sprain anymore. Downsides, the ligaments have gone to pot *sigh*. Just EDS things I suppose (no less annoying).

Another person with EDS here! I like to think of myself and my body as a team. Even if its best is not very good, I know it does its best and I try to remember that. Still sucks though. Also, once I walked on a broken leg for three weeks because I thought it was just my ankle dislocating all the time. Whoops! 😅
@deirenne8 ай бұрын
Shitty ankle EDS gang make some noise! The worst part of it is when I sprain one/both of my ankles while running *very short* distance to catch a bus or a tram, cause then for sure I'm not only not getting said bus, but also will have trouble walking for an undisclosed length of time - maybe it'll pass in 5 minutes or maybe I'll still be floppy and aching next day x.x It's so common that I kinda barely notice it? I've had people gravely concerned about me when I f*cked up my ankle while walking with them and each time I have to spend hours convincing them that "No, it's okay, I don't need ER, that's just my legs, they just do that, it'll pass", because if I was going to the ER each time one of my joints was acting up, I'd have to live there. But the plus side is that I can freak the living shit out of people with how bendable and flexible I can be. I could play in Exorcist remake, no CGI or SFX needed XD

If you are in a position to do so, highly recommend an orthotist to make some foot and ankle braces to help with the drop foot-I’m a fellow EDS zebra with a high arch and wide foot, and both of my feet drop. An orthotist was able to add a little spring to my foot and ankle braces that pulls the front of my foot up if I don’t have weight on it, and it has made my life so much better. Less tripping, less falling, less foot pain, better walking. The shoes look gorgeous, I’m going to have a look and see if they’ll fit my wonky feet too! I’m a 10WW at the best of times with a high arch and thick balls of my feet. I also have AFOs and compression socks to squeeze in, so shoes have been an ongoing issue for me. I’m so excited for this collection!

As a queer person working with a shoe company I would ask that you please advocate for trans women who do not have any options for buying sensible feminine shoes in large sizes. I have also met cis women with the same size as me (eu47) so as always, accommodation for trans people will also help cis people more. The shoes available to the trans femme community are largely, poorly made platform stiletto boots targeted at drag queens. The whole community would love if this shoe company were able to make a few options in large enough sizes. The trans femme community and our cisters with large feet are left to wear gender neutral boots and sneakers. I know how much being a "heels lesbian" matters to you, please use your platform to help enable us to join you.

When you show all the flattie ones you show a bow at the end one of them has it and it's similar but not quite exactly like the shoe my mother had it had very low heels not that little of course a little closer to the 1930s type heal but but the top of the shoe looked a little bit like the one I just mentioned.

Omg I want these shoes so bad! They definitely address issues I have with shoes, especially ladies' dress shoes. And even for those of us who have good dexterity, those little buckles suck so much so believe me when I say that I love that they are accessible (so much) but it's also just great universal design. Fantastic job Jessica. I hope these sell really well! They certainly deserve to!

So happy you got to do this! The shoes are stunning and so well thought out. Sadly not able to purchase but will support with a like and comment :)

Actually you could leave the web looking thing across the side and use a clip closer which I saw on my mother's shoe in the sense that the clip reminds me in the way it comes down like that of a tie clip but not exactly there's a little type of button like you have on snaps that goes through a hole at the top and all you do is have to press it if you want to get it open you would pull on the bow and it would come up. So there's no tying up it's pretty much a strap that looks like you've tied it up but it's not.
