Based on the size of head you could go fuller, by adding chains between the key-lengths. Find some scrap chains and use them. Also a cheaper model could be made out of plastic keys to lower the weight. I’ve been doing costumes for years and love your inventiveness! You might check out a stretch mesh wig cap in the hair color to spread the weight out.
