Fun Fact: Sunfish don't have scales. They also don't have a swimbladder by the way. Also they dive DEEP. Up to 1000m beneath the surface. However they can't stay down there for long. They have to go back to the surface rather quickly and then stay close to the surface for a rather long time to sunbask in order to warm up again. That's where they got their name from. Because they bask in the sun for so long and that's when they are most often encountered.

@@GlassGeckoGames Well if you are interested, Sunfish, like all big animals do have a rather large problem with parasites latching on to them. Sunfish especially since they have absolutly no way to remove them by themselve. Which is why they are often surrounded by large groups of smaller fish that eat the parasites of the sunfish's skin. Sunfish are even known to drift almost completly sideways on the surface to allow birds to pick out parasites. Also, sunfish are extremly large but almost completly defenseless aside from an almost armored skin. Which is why few smaller fish can hurt them. However, larger fish, sharks and also aquatic and semiaquatic mammals like sealions are known to essentially just take a bite out of them. And sunfish are hardy enough to rather easily survive this as long as the nibble is not in a vital area which is why you quite often sea sunfish with literal bites taken out of them. Especially around the fins.

Umami is.. a savory flavor. The five basic flavors human taste buds can detect are; salty, sweet, sour, bitter and umami. All other flavors are just combinations of those. It's like how human eyes only have three color receptors, every other color we see is just a combination of those three.

@@samanyupalthi Umami is literally "savoriness" as in it tastes more savory, the more umami the food is. Basically it is the same 'taste' as glutamats like MSG. Spicy, as in hot is not a flavor, it is the sensation of burning, triggered by the nerves in your mouth. Flavors are detected by taste buds instead.

(Though spicy is technically not a flavour but a pain receptor thing) Umami is a Japanese word which means tastiness-flavour. It's the flavour of amino-acids found in protein. It can be found in meat, fish, mushrooms, seaweed, etc. Broths like beef/pork/chicken soup stock, dashi, and MSG essentially exist to add umami.

Free Willy was actually a real Orca named Keiko. He was rehabbed at the Oregon Coast Aquarium before he was released into the wild, and I got to meet him at the aquarium when I was a child. His life is a sad story

Lol, the sunfish/MolaMola are some of the derpiest fish around. They can't defend themselves, can barely swim (no useful tail) and they are horrible to eat bc their flesh is full of toxins. But things still take bites out of them anyway, and they can't do anything about it. They just come up to bask in the light to warm up and sometimes seabirds will stand on them and pick their parasites away if they're lucky.
