To reduce sanding time on project like this: Sand and polish the master, not the resin casts. That way they all come out of the mold already polished and sanded. Also, it's seriously worth investing in a pressure pot if you intend to do much resin or silicone work, it's a much easier and more reliable way to prevent bubbles from forming in resin or silicone.
@Anthromod3 жыл бұрын
Just to add that once you've reached a level of sanding, you can spray a gloss coating to get the final level of shine. Or coat it in resin again and UV cure.
@Harko-3 жыл бұрын
Those came out looking awesome! A tip for in case you don’t know yet: If you want the symbols or the edges to really glow, give them a light sanding. Highly polished surfaces “trap” the light inside, due to the breaking index. A scratch or defect in this surface allows the light to “escape”. Keep up the excellent work!

Awesome job Martina and Hansi. Runes for the elements - purple = spirit, yellow = air, red = fire, green = earth and blue = water. Although I think you got the colours and symbols mixed up. Air is an upward triangle with a line (male), fire is an upward triangle (male), earth is a downward triangle with a line (female), and water is a downward triangle (female). The hourglass figure represents spirit and the meeting of male and female.

Cool project, good rock simulation, and a great game to take inspiration from. Only a couple things I could think of to improve it would be to add something to the resin to maybe give it a more crystalline appearance. The other thing was the finishing oil. It's better to apply the finishing oil before attaching anything else to the wood. The oil soaks into the wood, and untreated spots will decay or dry rot over time.

So now I watch YT & read, I'm re-reading the Hobbit for maybe the 30th time, I first read it as a school book aged 12 & I still love it. I'll have to move to the Lord of the Rings again next.Thank you for the view on set & the link to the film, it brought back some great memories flooding back!!! Stay safe...Steve...

I could be wrong, but I believe if you finish the edges with a rougher sanding finish, instead of polishing, essentially frosting the edges, it retains a nice glow on the edges while reflecting more light through the center of the piece.
