Sadly, none of my four years of studying literature at university were even remotely dark-academia-ish, although I did get weirdly into Marxist/feminist/British magick realism from the 1960s so that's kind of its own special aesthetic I guess. I don't know if this is because I went to a boring university in a boring state and not freaking Yale, or if dark academia is, dare I say it, an idealization of romanticism that revolves around hero-worshiping a bunch of almost certainly racist old white men. Who can say?

I can’t listen to Teen Idle because Szin made a Heathers animatic with it and I have these weird emotional feeling of mental torcher whenever I’m reminded of Heathers which sucks because it’s my favorite musical of all time which is saying something because I’m a fan of a lot of musicals-
@RisIgrec4 жыл бұрын
ok i actually just went to watch the animatic bc of this comment and some of the parallels b/w the song and the musical are super interesting :0

I live in England and have this aesthetic. Durham cathedral is a great place to visit and the universities you get here can look like that! You can also visit the place where they filmed Harry Potter because it isn’t far from Newcastle! Only about an hour and a half drive! I definitely recommend visiting certain areas of the uk or Durham

You are the first person I’ve ever seen who 1. knows what Dead Poets Society is and 2. adores it and all its characters. Question: did you know there was a book adaptation after the movie because it did so well? It’s by N.H. Kleinbaum.

the mention of A Separate Peace gave me many freshman year flashbacks. mostly of the ceaseless arguments between the teacher and my friends of how the main characters were definitely in love with each other
