PRS did it in the early 2000s with the SE EG - Available in SSH as well as SSS in a variety of colors. I have both versions and actually prefer them to the SE Silver Sky because they feature the standard PRS 25" scale, wide fat set neck and all mahogany construction with a rosewood board.

Hey Lucas, too bad you missed the opportunity to show the different pickups positions, I would love to hear the position 2 and 4 to see if they have some twang and/or if they're missing some because of the 25" scale instead of 25"½... that would be interesting to watch. I saw your pics on Instagram so I’m pumped for this video. PRS S2 are the perfect mod guitars. You get American made quality bodies and everything but they are almost like a high quality blank canvas. I put all new pickups and electronics in mine (had to rout some too) and it’s like my best sounding guitar.

The S2's are some of the best value guitars on the market IMO, especially used, but even new. They *feel* like the Core stuff and sound great, and you have enough money saved to change whatever electronics or hardware you might want. Plus, I like knowing that I can take this to a gig at some dive bar and not be so worried someone is going to spill beer on my $4000 guitar :P

I was just watching your "One last ride (with the cover bad)" and peeping tbat guitar. What in the PRSxperiment was I looking at?! I figured it came from the mind and work bench of Lucas Fowler. What a tone beast! This reminds me of the Nancy Wilson Nighthawk. A million tone options in one guitar 👌 It worked so well for tbe cover band! Looks good too!!

Awesome build ! I just finished a HSH with 2 Alnico II Humbuckers, one SSL2 in the middle, push-pull for single action on the HB's and a push-push to connect the neck PU in any position. Gives a lot of versatility and intersting tones: from Gilmour to Jazz, Tele and classic Strat style ;-) Cheers Lucas

My 91’ PRS EG2 would check all the boxes for you with the exception of its wide/thin neck profile. It’s been my Swiss Army knife of a guitar for decades. I’m thinking of modding it as well with a lower output bridge humbucker to better match the two Lindy Fralin single coils and a trem stop so I can play in drop D and not change the floating bridge. Great job on the guitar by the way 👍

I just put a set of humbucker sized p90 pickups in my S2 Standard 24 and it’s killer but now I kind of want another to try this!

I had a s2 standard no matter what pickups I put in it, I couldn't get it twangy for my taste, so I sold it, and got a sliver sky and a hollow body ii and now I have a guitar for all my needs. Twangy with the silver sky, the hollow body is pretty twangy also. I gotta have alder or mapletop, to give it the extra punch it seems. Of course I'm mostly a strat player so that make sense.

Just a heads up (you probably know about this kind of thing already), I used a kit from obsidian wire that switches between 500k and 250 depending on if you’re on humbucker or single coil. Might be something you want to try out, I love it

Hey Lucas! What a great project man… nicely routed… And fantastic tones! Have you tried wilkinson locking saddles on one of your prs guitars? I really enjoy them on my ce24! That sounds great! Really awesome job! I’d love to use planet tone pickups for my partscasters. They’ve always sounded great in your guitars but I had a weird back and forth with the admin for their facebook page. I think they misunderstood my point about a subject and I got a nasty response. I don’t know what that was all about but it really turned me off on using them.

Certainly similar to the S2 Studio. I looked at those, but I'm not crazy about the Type D singles and the 5 way on those doesn't allow you to get the middle pickup alone, which I like to use. Also they were really expensive used!

A well executed mod as I’ve ever seen Lucas. Kudos to you sir. I have one question. Why is there what looks like a Dymo Label with the notes for guitar standard tuning, i.e., EADGBE, affixed to the side of the headstock?

It's because I have quite a few guitars in different tunings and the label helps me remember which guitar is in what tuning. Also helpful when I'm ordering strings so I know how many sets of each gauge I need :P

Indeed it was a Brotherhood of Steel logo. Is planet Tone able to make a hss prs pickguard like that but with a strat pot and 5 way switch layout routed ?

Planet Tone doesn't custom cut pickguards, you'd need to go through someone like Pickguardian or Pickguard Planet, etc to have the guard made. Planet Tone would probably allow you to send it in and wire it up for you, however. You would just need to email them and ask. They are very helpful with things like that.
