Here's an idea I've had for a while: basically, if you throw a loyalty (let's say 4) trident, there is a slot in your inventory reserved for the trident. Not only does this guarantee that it ends up in the right slot, it also stops other items from filling your inventory, which would prevent you from getting your trident back. The reserved "trident slot" would have the outline of a trident in that slot, similar to how smithing tables have the outline of netherite ingots, to show that the trident will come back to that slot. You could probably even relocate or throw out that reserved slot if you want to. Of course, it wouldn't actually drop as an item, it'll just make the trident stop coming back to you.

god, i love these videos. they're so well designed! all your items and concepts capture minecraft flavour so well, and they're also perfect additions to the game. one thing i felt was a missed opportunity- the hellfork is supposed to have increased utility in the nether. fire riptide, impaling damaging fire resistant mobs... but what if channeling created a ghast fireball? like summoned one from a distance that is travelling towards the target upon impact. maybe it literally just explodes? the other thing i have is the atlan seems a bit overpowered for what you put in. maybe instead of allowing sword enchants (though that is so damn cool,,,,) it removes the cap on enchantment intensity? like you just can put on infinite levels of loyalty to make it return faster and faster, *but* ridiculous levels just have exponentially higher exp costs.

I've got an idea for the item at the end First I'd make it an enchantment but only for the Atlantis Trident Second I'd make it so the longer you hold the trident whilst fully charged the more tridents that you have in your inventory will be launched with the Atlantis one when you finally throw it - a bit like the multi shot enchantment Third I'd probably add a limit of maybe 5 additional tridents (so total 6), or maybe 2 additional (total 3) that can be thrown at once? I don't know play testing would have to tell you what's right there ---- I feel like having it be yet another item only clogs up your inventory more, functions as a trident gun and it also takes away the feeling of using a trident Which this suggestion would solve those problems whilst still allowing you to yeet multiple tridents in one go at a target if you are willing to wait that time to charge it

Idea for alternative maelstrom item: while held in hand/offhand, all loyal tridents will circle around the player, similar to how tridents circle when the players inventory is full, creating a literal maelstrom with enough tridents. While circling, they will damage anything they hit. You could even give each trident a special ability similar to what they normally have, for example, the elder trident could home in on enemies who get too close. Additionally, you can right click for a power attack, throwing all tridents currently in the maelstrom. Riptide tridents will propel you the same way they normally would when thrown with a power attack. Of course, this would have a long cooldown to make it a bit more balanced. Putting away the maelstrom item will make all tridents return to the inventory.

I think you could balance the maelstrom by making it take all the tridents from your inventory and have them swirl around, so the more tridents you have the more range it gets because each trident is flying in a separate ring, also it should probably make every Trident complete a circle in like 2 seconds so you actually hit stuff. I don't know how to make mods so this could probably be almost impossible to implement 🤷‍♂️

The "Maelstorm"'s function can be changed into an [artifact] that can be equiped either from equiping it in the (head) slot from [curios], or from putting it in your offhand. Once the "maelstorm" is equiped, it will summon tridents from your inventory that has "loyalty 4" hovering wherever in the player ((it can be hovering on the top of the players shoulder, or head)). The summoned tridents can be shot by pressing a keybind ((like 'T' or 'X'))

Here's an idea for how to balance the maelstrom, tridents have to be bound to use it, meaning they cannot be used as actual items, they will return like they have loyalty and inf durability, but you lose all functionality overwise. Or have it enchants for it is extremely expensive, like for example having to use actual tridents, level 1 a pitchfork work, level 2, hell fork, lv 3 elder, and level 4 Atlan. Also for Atlan, make it enchants able to get far higher levels, like level 10 sharpness but after their normal cap triple XP cost every time. That aside mate, wonderful job with mod, always love your videos, good content, funny and overall high quality work, so keep it up, and would love to see more of your idea's and mods

I just thought of a really cool scenario with the riptide 4. Imagine this you go to raid a base you found traveling about doing minecraft thing but as your plundering as your heart desires. The base owner returns now as you have been running around you have seen a set of colorfull tridents on the main structure on a pedestal. The base owner starts to fight back and you are winning but then he stops and looks to the tridents then they all come flying at him and then the battle has turned.

Idea: allow atlan to have both channeling and riptide, zapping anything you hit when in rain, and allowing atlan to have all sharpness upgrades, so sharp, smite, and BoA(Bane). And efficiency on all tridents itself will allow you to break basic blocks faster underwater, and speeding up throw time.

the maelstrom reminds me of an ancient tech in Hypixel's skyblock known as "Bone cycling". To do this, you'd bring 5 "bonemerangs" and throw them all in rapid succession, then swap to a high damage weapon so its stats are copied, dealing plenty of damage.

a cool idea to combat the efficiency issue with the maelstrom is since its made with copper you could have it oxidize the more you use it until its fully oxidized to where with efficiency its as fast as its non oxidized and enchanted.

I like the idea for a pitchfork. It could be an item found in villages instead of being crafted. I think the biggest area minecraft combat is lacking is underwater combat. The only weapon that is effective underwater is the trident and they are extremely difficult to come by. Tridents should at least be loot in buried treasure or those stone temples that spawn drowned. I also think Minecraft needs another weapon for early game that works well underwater. I've been sitting here trying to brainstorm what weapons would make sense underwater. Most wouldn't work due to fiction caused by water resistance. Minecraft is a fantasy game though so, we could ignore that the same way tridents already due. Personally, I would like to see unique combat and weapons underwater. The first obvious thing would be a specific 'arrow' for crossbows underwater ie a harpoon. This would be more of a mid-game weapon. My other idea was a net made out of kelp. The recipe could be simple just using kelp which can easily be gotten. It's less of a weapon and more of a trap. It could be used more defensively by tying up enemies. How it would be used would be by right clicking an area and throwing the net. Any mob that walks into it, gets trapped. While trapped, they can't attack you or move. They just struggle until the net breaks. Nets would take damage as a mob struggles. Since kelp is easy to get a lot of, I don't think the item particle being one use matters much. The nets can also be used to collect items. They would work on land also but could be less effective to balance it. I had an idea for some type of kelp grappling hook. It would be crafted with kelp and copper (to give copper more uses). It would kinda be like a mace but it would also pull enemies towards the player while also dealing damage. I'm not sure about this one. My favorite weapon idea is a discus (which is basically a metal frisbee). I'm thinking it would be crafted again with copper and the shell of a clam or oyster. It would be thrown like Captain America's shield.

1.20 changed how the smithing table works. This would be a perfect way to introduce more upgrade templates into the game. Make a "Hellfork upgrade template" spawn in bastions. Then require netherite as the material. Then just combine your trident, hellfork upgrade template, and netherite ingot to get the hellfork
