14:31- I guess it would depend on what kind of yellow you want to end with?!? Like you said, yellow is very thin! So because of that whatever the under coat is with determine what the yellow will look like after you apply it and it dries!?! For me, I like a more orange, red-ish yellow for my Imperial Fist! So I will paint a Incursion Orange for the brighter spots and a Lava Orange for the darker/more shaded areas! Then a thin coat of Daemonic Yellow over it all! And depending on if I want the yellow to stand out more I would keep adding more thin coats of yellow until I got what I wanted!!!

The final glory shot shows a really well executed paint job. Half way through the video I was unsure of where the final minis were going but I'm pleased to say that fear was unfounded. I like the take of doing the armour as a leather instead of metal.
@52Miniatures8 ай бұрын
That was a fun idea that came out of the "Roman" concept. It's why I like having ideas for armies that might not be connected to the lore of the game. I'd never thought of trying to do leather armour without that little story side line of Roman soldiers. I like how it turned out :)
@itwassean10 ай бұрын
I love how much detail you are able to achieve with what seems like so few colors in relation to the final result. I tried some NMM last week and got really discouraged at the same sketchy effect you achieved here, but maybe if I adjust my expectation and lean into it, that will make me a bit happier. Your NMM looks really good here, and maybe I just didn't take it far enough. Great video! And I love how you show the less glamorous parts of the hobby that are so real.
@52Miniatures10 ай бұрын
I find it takes a bit of repetition. There's plenty of spots on these ten minis that don't look great. And there's some that do (to me). But repeating the ten minis with similar panels and shapes made me "better" for each mini.
@lordbiscuitthetossable535210 ай бұрын
I think that's the thing, painting scheme complexity doesn't necessarily make a finer final product. Just being mindful of what colours we use and how to compliment them is. Like, I wouldn't have thought about introducing other colours to shade yellow in this really stylistic way, but it really does work. Makes me want to do some experimentation of my own.

One of the biggest draws for me to Warhammer is this idea of making a seemingly uniform army tell a unique story of its own through customizations and color schemes that do not follow exactly with the lore. I think one of the benefits of not painting for some time is that I "forget" some things I've done as a habit and replace it with something new. This can lead to interesting development. But the brushcontroll, controll over paint consistency, things like that certainly goes down after a while.

I recently did something a bit similar! But slightly bigger project, Finnished a whole army this Januari, a bit grimdark styled Stormcast Crusaders with bretonnian heads, but still some colors with Blue robes and such! Lots of small conversions, removing and adding customised details from greenstuff or plasticard, and skipped the Big original shoulderpads for my own made ones. I did mine with true metalics though, but very toned down and not too reflective with weathering, rust and shading. But his video gave me some further inspirations for my nex unit I will add to the army and how to convert them, thanx! _______ Also from 08-Stockholm area! haha.

Great to hear! Sounds like a fun army. And you would have recognised the weather then :)
