I was 20 when the song came out. I thought it was cute, just a middle schooler living her best life. When you’re significantly older, you don’t see kids as equals and you judge less. I am grateful to have come of age before social media really took off. Poor Gen Z, having to subject themselves to the internet’s scrutiny 24-7 as children. Good on Rebecca for overcoming that and making her own career.

This song was my childhood and my friends and I would sing to it all time so I have really good memories attached to it.
