i would just make it look like it’s stained. i like the minimalist design tho, id want a little bevel where the cigar is supposed to sit on the removable ash tray part, so it can’t roll. and to give it the classic ash tray design, so it’s more recognizable as one(brand new obviously, cuz ash will make it clear).

Wood and fire don't mix. What other material could you make the ashtray out of? Cause even if you don't burn it the ashes will discolor it after a few uses. Maybe you can coat it in epoxy or something? I also like the notch idea for it to rest without rolling. Always like your videos, keep it up ✌🏼

Yep! I thought about that too. I found some aluminum/tin candles at Dollar general for $1. I took the lid off and placed it inside the circle….it fits perfectly! The ridge of the lid rested on top of the wood; preventing direct contact to the wood. Now, if you have too much of “Troy The Maker” cocktails (sweet tea😜) you could accidentally come in contact with the wood on the sides. Not likely, but possible. Good addition to epoxy and quick clean up. If needed, make adjustments to the circles to place round glass or ceramic coasters for ashtray bottom
