Between you, Bernadette, and Rachel Maksy I'm beginning to think I really need some secret pants. As a children's librarian I often have to walk the line between "professional" and "able to plop down on the floor and read to a child" so secret pants might become my new uniform!

Modesty is preserved . It’s funny how two of my favourite people have done bicycle skirts in the last few days. I remember wearing skorts when I was a lot younger mumble years ago. They weren’t nearly as good as as your version. 💖💞💖👍👍👍👍🌟🍀☘️🌟☘️🍀🌟🙋🏼♀️

These turned out so cute! The blue corduroy is adorable and seems to be a great weight for this pattern. I’ve made the TV ones and I love them. The butt pleats are great. But I also have this pattern that I want to make up. One can never have too many secret pants after all.

I like seeing the finished garment at the beginning. Mostly because when there's a phrase like 'might be cute. I'm not sure', I can smile and be giddy because yes, it's absolutely adorable and I can't wait for you to see it all done 🧡

The shorter length is super cute. I've wondered about how comfortable this kind of pattern is for walking around with the fall front, and now I'm confident it's a good choice for a future project. Thanks for the adorable and informative video.

As a school bus driver a skirt is quite impractical for me (especially as I have to climb up into my seat) but a split skirt seems to me to be the perfect answer to my problem of wanting long warm skirts in the winter (sitting opposite the door is really cold). Yours are so cute and the corduroy is amazing in these.

I also bought the TV split skirt pattern... (the pre-printed one, not the print-at-home one). Got it, read the instructions, put it back in my pattern box! Looked sooooo complicated (also I wasn't sure about fitting it, as I have my bustle pad pre-built-in). Ended up selling it on Ebay!

I may give grading it up a try at some point, but you're right, it does look complicated. ♥️

Great job with these. They didn't even look like they were *THAT* hard to make. (She says, without actually attempting it herself. hah!) Loved your finished look! I am curious, though, as to the logic of this style. I had the same 'huh?' moment with the ones Bernadette Banner made in her video. I like the split skirt, and I like the removable/foldable panel over it to 'hide' the fact it's split. . .but what is the logic of this when the split is fully visible from the back? Does this not sort of make the front panel slightly redundant? Or was 'modesty preserved' merely by disguising the 'pants' from the front? Obviously it matters not in this day and age. . .women wearing pants isn't an issue (generally speaking) but for the Victorian mindset - wouldn't that panted back-side be an issue?
@PocketFullofPoseys2 жыл бұрын
I think that having the panel in the front is what was supposed to preserve modesty. Other patterns I've seen have more fullness in the back, so the split would be more disguised. That's my thought, anyway.

I'm sold. Looked at the TV ones and was miffed that it didn't go upto the size of the rest of their patterns (or at least the ones I'm interested in) These will be great for the wheelchair. Keeping legs warm without having the long skirt + wheelchair wheels = chaos and superman impressions. I have cordaroy in green and cotton drill in all sorts of colours. Thank you x

Yours and Bernadette's in one weekend! Yours was done alittle differently than hers and it gave me ideas for two different versions! You looked beautiful in yours especially riding the bike, that was fun! Boooo to 'Truly Victorian' for not having your size. You'd think they would have caught up with the world by now! Congrats!
@PocketFullofPoseys2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I may make the Truly Victorian version at some point, but didn't feel like grading up 10 inches. It's strange, most of their patterns go up to at least within a couple of inches of my measurements, so I didn't even check before buying the pattern!
@patriciarodriguez38632 жыл бұрын
It’s beautiful!!! I’m around the same size as you and I bought light brown corduroy a couple of months ago to make a walking skirt I think I have 5 or 6 yards will that be enough to make a split skirt like urs but longer?
@PocketFullofPoseys2 жыл бұрын
It should be enough. I think the pattern calls for 5-6 yards of 45 inch wide fabric, less if the fabric is wider.
