Just fyi…I can vouch that the styles in Mad Men are authentic! I would know, I lived that era as a child. It was wild growing up as the roles and opportunities of women changed so drastically. I grew up envious of the women who wore those styles and love it to this day. so wonderful seeing SewRena explore and conquer that era!

There are no words to describe what a talent you are. I could watch you all day. Even though, I grew up in the 60’s, for the most part, I was too young to wear the clothes you wear in your videos but the 60’s is my favorite era and I love being transported back to that time and nobody does it like you. Thank you.

omg wow this dress fits you perfectly! so gorgeous. this pattern would look great in heavier fabric as well - like a damask jacquard (i like to use upholstery fabric for very fitted and structured garments like this sometimes as it will hold its shape and not wrinkle throughout the day easily). also, ive seen similar garments with a waxed finish to give it the extra pop you mentioned (for leathers or vinyls i use a teflon foot, some waxed fabrics its trial by error which foot works best (often the top is waxed and the underside is fabric, so it can be tricky). also you are very much a professional - many people go into the industry and dont actually sew much as manufacturing has been outsourced, they certainly dont wear the garments they make (myself included). You also have a growing loyal fanbase. dont sell yourself short, you are 100% a professional :)

Oh wow so pretty 💛💛💛. Maybe a fun project could be to make some 50's underwear with built in padding? Your hip padding looks just perfect in the dress, but a separate slip with the right shape added to it seem like a practical thing to have in your wardrobe, to go with different dresses? Much like a padded bra. (Which could also be built in to a slip I guess?😊)
@SewRena
@SewRena Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks so much! I’ve played around with external hip pads. I don’t think a slip would work because it would move around too much I’ve thought about doing underwear as well but I’m still uncertain. I’m sure I’ll come up with a solution soon enough this is my first time stitching it into my dress and I like it a lot. Once I figure out what I like the most I’ll make a dedicated video. The first pads I made I used cotton batting and poly fill they are super dramatic and pronounced.

**im reposting this reply to a comment below cuz i saw a few people talking about the illustrations (croquis- pronounced crow-key). garment illustration is the fantasy - the garment itself is the reality. usually croquis illustrations are 9 heads tall, while humans irl are like 7. (they do this to allow for details of garments to be magnified, and also to sell the fantasy in a way similar to vanity sizing :) tldr-technical drawings are the precise illustrations, croquis illustrations are selling the fantasy. croquis is 9 heads, real people are 7 heads. nobody looks like a croquis drawing, so hopefully nobody is comparing their figures to that standard (the croquis girls would have severe medical problems and most likely wouldnt even be able to stand up irl).
