I saw your wedding speech - excellent. And this was a really good set too. obviously it was geared toward a Chinese audience but still funny for me. I used to do standup myself, and I can say you are really good! By the way, 40 years ago in college, my friend tried to explain ma ma ma ma and I could never hear the difference! Apparently my mother is a horse.
@nicoleraheem11952 жыл бұрын
😂 So, the rising tone Má, in pinyin. I think of the line that shows the tone, as grass growing out of the ground for HEMP. It sounds like a ❓ "Do you have má?" Mā Is like a American kid calling for his mom to get her attention. "Mom! Ma! Mama!" So, it's a higher whiney pitch for me. Mǎ I think of a person sitting on a saddle. Since there is curve on the back of a horse, this Mǎ, reminds me that there's a fall and a rise in the tone. And mà, for the 4th tone, is like when you dropped your food that you've been craving all day, because a fucker didn't stop at a red light and you exclaim: "DAMN!" WITH FORCE. So 👇 goes the tone with force I'm a student of the Chinese language and this is what helped me to remember MA.

As an American having lived and worked in China for nearly a decade. Also married to a Chinese, my wife taught me how to haggle at the ladies market with the most ruthless of Da Jies!! Your material brings back many fond memories of my years abroad. : ) Wishing you great success in your comedy endeavors!!

That counting part was relatable, when I was in China, I absolutely loved this concept of counting in one hand. 😅 PS : For me too all the 4 tones sounded the same. 😂😂😂

I could discern the different tones (probably because I’m a musician) but I bet I’d have a *much* harder time if I was trying to learn Chinese and the tones were coming at me in a larger mix than just the same syllable repeated 4 times.
@Gossypol3 жыл бұрын
@@howlinhobbit Absolutely. When I was learning Chinese these 4 tones were so similar that I accepted my failure in the subject in a very early stage. 😅😂

I can totally understand the tone thing. I am Filipino and we have this sort of thing in our language too, the famous one being "Bababa ba?" which means "Is there anyone alighting the vehicle?"

Cantonese has 9 tones. It does driving me gone crazy even more because just a tiny slight slip of pronunciation, meaning goes off like a Milky Way galaxy ROFL

nooo as a language student... the lesson is Invaluable. need to repeat One Thousand Times.... each "tone".

I don't speak Mandarin but i do watch a lot of Cdramas. I totally got the "Ma Ma Ma" joke. its one of the reasons I gave up on wanting to learn Mandarin... I loved your entire set. Thank you YT algorithm

You haven't seen anything yet, try to learn Cantonese, way more tones. Also you forgot one of the Ma's.

That was a very clean set. Usually female comedians arent this funny. That "ma" joke was hilarious

I've been reading a lot of novels from Chinese Authors lately and it's open me up to the culture. I was looking up cross talk because I've never heard of it and stumbled across this video. I am so glad I gave it a look. Girl you had me rolling in laughter the whole time. I made sure to subscribe on both channels. ❤ 🇺🇸

My wife was Korean. The Korean alphabet and language is amazing in it's simplicity. Chinese is ridiculously complicated. I have a lot of respect for multilingual folks. I get the "bargaining" as my wife inevitably would ask "Can give me discount?".
@clorozweepvmundosalazar5153 Жыл бұрын
King sejong made the korean alphabet so Koreans wealthy and poor alike can know how to read and write . That’s how it became so simple and so many foreigners pick up reading/writing Korean so quickly

Wow! What a talent. Your comic timing and clever, actually-funny jokes are far too good for you to be an "amateur." Obviously, you going up on stage proved that your wedding toast was not a fluke. I hope you build on this momentum and create more material. Your audience is ready to grow with you!
