My father is full Hawaiian. We are allowed to apply for “ Hawaiian homestead” land but it’s so hard to even get that. Thank you for bringing this up. 😂

Aloha , Born and raised in Hawai’i. I’m also part Hawaiian. I 💯 agree with you. There should be a law to protect our people, culture and land to stay in Hawaiian hands and yes if your born here. You family needs to be here for a full generation to do so. Mahalo for bring that light. Back to the humble and beautiful Iam Tongi. You make your dad , mother , siblings, Hawai’i all of Polynesia so PROUD !!! 🙌🏼🙏🏼💙

💯 fully agree with what you just said about the hawaii natives and land. It’s sad I’m born and raised on Oahu and watching my own family move away cause they can’t afford. Just like Iam Tongi and his family moving away cause mainlanders moving here jacking up the cost to live here. Thank you for mentioning it. Make hawaii proud GO GET UM IAM 808 4 LIFE 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Maan what you said about Hawaii not being America and how they should be able to own their own land etc was the realest thing I've heard. I agree mans shouldn't be pushed out of their own land they're native to just because rich people think it "looks nice". love this reaction brother big ups to you

I'm glad you pointed out the price of paradise living here in Hawaii is about a Million dollar homes. The Government is well-supported by welfare, however The government from the mainland are bringing in homeless people coming from California on a one way ticket to Hawaii because of the welfare program. Homeless are slowly scattered near beaches in Waikiki and all the way to the west side of O'ahu. Some local people are amongst the homeless living in nearby beaches. Hawaii is not supposed to be a 50th State. It was stolen and the local people in Hawaii have no say in the decisions. Just like, the U.S. once had a military base in the Philippines. U.S. just took it and take control that wasn't theirs.

@@kkrmrnka8411 Lived there for 30 years. Don't try to insult my intelligence because it offends you. I have no problem if Hawaii goes back to Hawaiians but with that everything goes with it. Internet, military defense, running water, electricity, medicine, federal funding, shipping, fuel, infrastructure...all of it. Hawaiians will then go back to fighting and killing each other just like they've always done and another power at some point, will come in and take it from you as has happened all throughout the history of mankind. Gentry, Campbell and Bishop Estates all took massive amounts of land from Hawaiians long before it was a state.

My heart goes out to you about your grandfather, not being able to see him, say goodbye, or have your daughter know and love him. Nothing can make up for that. Just try to hold on to the happy memories of what you shared with him, and try to show your daughter pictures and tell her about him. That will keep him alive in both of your memories - true immortality. And know he can see you and feel your love.

I’m so very sorry that when your Granddad was dying that you were not able to see him nor have your daughter meet him. Hugs and prayers to you and your family. I went through the same heartbreak in March 2020 with my husband who was in a nursing home. Due to Covid restrictions the nursing home stopped visitations in early February. I received a call from the nurse letting me know my husband was transitioning and she felt he would not last through the night. I begged her through a torrent of tears to please let me be there with him but was refused. I had to tell my love how much I loved him and goodbye over the phone. I will never get over the fact that I was not allowed to be with him. So I understand your anger and hurt by not being allowed to see your Granddad.

I know how you feel about going in to see your granddad. My sister passed away on April 28th, 2020. Not from Covid. She passed away and they think it was a stroke but we're not sure. She was my best friend. We are 8 children and I lost my little brother on March 27th, 2011. These two were the closest I had to siblings. Seeing them gone hurts so much. It’s sad when the median price of a single family home on Oahu rose to $1,150,000 as of March, according to Hawaii News Now. And these are not mansions, but rather simple homes. It’s just that the price of land in Hawaii is astronomical and a big problem we have are outside investors buying up these homes as investments.

Under the USA Constitution everyone is equal under the law so it's illegal to favor or disfavor people in the competition for housing. Hawaii is expensive so people who want to live there have to work harder and smarter to do so. That's true for any popular place. Iam Tongi's family immigrated to the USA from Tonga. Contrary to what many believe, they are not a native Hawaiian family. The good news is that with his new fame and wealth, Iam can now easily afford to live in Hawaii!

Having lived in Hawaii for 30 years, the real problem with the cost of living, crime, drug use there is 50+ years of democrat/liberal policies that have run that place into the ground. It's the exact same reason Seattle is a shit hole. They vote for the same types over and over and the people are eventually forced out because of it. Kahuku is a beautiful ocean side town that has a large Samoan population. The drive to get there from either Haleiwa or Kaneohe is gorgeous as are all the beaches along the way but slowly the locals are getting displaced.

@@tdueldog You can say whatever you want but republicans do not and have not run Hawaii in over 40 yrs. The blame for turning Hawaii, one of the most beautiful places ever, into a shit hole lies with the ruling party. That's the dems. I am glad Iam called out being priced out of paradise on national tv.
