I've replaced a fair bit of HDMI and other connectors from several devices. If I can give you some tips: use aluminium or kapton tape to cover the surrounding components if you are new to the game. This will effectively shield the other components or close connectors from overheating and help you direct the heat towards the faulty component. Low melt solder is not needed really, just have good (lead) solder and add this. Don't overheat your components so you don't damage plastics, but use sufficiant heat to get the solder melding without spending too much time doing it. Take some other broken boards to practice desoldering, you will be amazed how fast you will master this. You have all the right gear to do so, just put in some hours of practice.

Multimeter is your best briend, probably the HDMI IC Chip got shorted also, or the filters are blow up. Maybe a small soldering iron like a C210 or T30 would make it easy also. But for a beginner job that was pretty clean, everyone starts like that, spending over 10 hours on one device that didnt even got fixed, but the experience comes quickly.

I just managed to repair one of these HDMI ports the other day, it was my first successful soldering job! The plastic part of the HDMI had been pushed in, and the pins had been cleanly sheared off. Luckily it had no ripped pads. I have a hot air gun and soldering pen (that i can't put tin on, it just won't stick to the tip). And the repair went pretty well. I also had to resolder the little capacitor next to the port, it's so close and it's tiny. I don't have a microscope, so this is pretty much the limit in terms of scale, any smaller and it gets hard to see what I'm doing.

I just finished one of these today for a customer. He had 4 ripped pads and a very mangled port. I got it up and running first try and was happy with the repair. It ran for 6 hours without a glitch. As soon as he got it home. Screen flickering. Needless to say I'm getting it back tomorrow. These playstations HDMI ports are extremely delicate and hard to do even if you have done hundreds like me.

It isn’t working because you ran the jumper wire in a spot where little continuity can flow, if you scratch off the circle at the end of the trace and run the jumper from there directly to the pin it should work. Another thing is get bigger jumper wire. Try .1mm instead of .01mm

So question? Is it possible for the hdmi port to be messed up even if it doesn’t show physical signs of being damaged? My ps5 has been sitting in the same spot for the past 6 months and the last time I played it I didn’t have any issues. But this past weekend I was gonna finally do my software update because right when I stopped playing it months ago it was due for an update, just never got around to doing it. Could the need for an update cause this issue? Fully disassembled the console with the plan of switching the hdmi ports but like I said it looks like it’s in perfect condition. What should I do? I’m still able to play my VR games but can’t see any display on the tv. I’ve tried different cords and different TVs and my Xbox isn’t having this problem, only the PlayStation.
