Awesome man, I was also lucky enough to hang with him one time when he was playing with Mike Stern too....Super lovely guy... It was funny because I'd literally just been playing Cliffs of Dover as a note for note (ish) cover earlier that day, as I told him that he said with a cheeky grin on his face... "You probably played it better than me"😂 I'll never forget that... Of course that's impossible but it was such a humble thing for him to say and showed his utter humility... I'll also never forget that moment... ;-) 👍🙏🎸

Way back in the late 70’s to late 80’s I lived in Austin. Saw Eric many times including a few shows at Steamboat on 6th St. Pretty much avoided 6th St. unless Eric or Stevie was playing at Steamboat. Anyway, sometime in the mid-80’s I was in the Whole Earth Provision store on S. Lamar & bumped into Eric. He looked at me like he recognized me & struck up a conversation. Such a sweet guy. Now I’m the proud owner of one of his signature strats. Not that I could ever get 1% out of it that he does.

Did you happen to ask him or KNOW if he is a Christian?? I met him and got his autograph and tommy taylor and kyle brock, But it was before I myself had become a Christian. His Lyric content would allude to it, for instance the Title for Righteous. I also saw him live in 96 right after Venus Isle came out and saw him again with ALC at House of blues orlando in 2003 with Derek Trucks opening act. I did not try to make any contact with him at the House of Blues just way to crowded. Well Thank you, and hopefully you will see this Question.
