GALA smiles often out of stage, like once he's just walking next to his teammates, not talking and he's looking to the sky and smiling, that's a sign of just being happy. Going against the grain here but Wendy isn't doing a good job translating in these interviews. She's alright at Chinese to English but when it's the other way around she will often slightly change the meaning of the question (whether it's because she misunderstood or she forgot halfway through and winged it I don't know), which is why if you pay attention many of the answers slightly don't fit the question. She lowkey sucks in other interviews too but you asking convoluted joke questions without prepping her makes it even worse. If you told her the questions you are gonna ask beforehand she would do better.

For instance the final part of your second question you asked if your mom could be a psychologist but she said some bullshit like "who do you think is mentally unwell" which is why he says something about people are different and everyone is good instead of answering if your mom could be a psychologist since he never heard that question

In the "Do you think my mother could be a psychologist" part of the question the translator got the question completely wrong and asked a different question to GALA. In fact, a lot of times whether that's on stage after a game interview or any type of interview translators that work for Riot got 20% of the questions wrong or the response wrong. Great interview tho!

I love these interviews, they are some of the best league content I have seen so far but as a person who speaks both English and Chinese a little part of me dies inside every time I watch the LPL ones. For example the translator did not translate the first question correctly at all. It is understandable but still kinda painful to watch.

Yeah absolutely. GALA didn't get the humor at all cuz he didn't even get posed the same question (whether Ruddy's mum could be a psychologist vs who out of them is more mentally sane). No wonder he gave such a generic response. Other things that were lost in translation: - Ruddy mentioned how GALA's drawing implied stability from the house and trees, whereas it was just glossed over as being 'normal drawings'. - It was just an informal comment by her mum, whereas the translation implied he also did a similar psych eval of using drawings.
