I, an orthodontist of 38 years experience, consider John to be a guiding light to the profession and the children he serves. I do understand why the rest of the profession is threatened because I was once like that, too. He speaks against what we were all taught. But once I came to see what John was seeing I could no longer unsee it. Now I base my entire practice on his thinking and all the recent research that now validates his thinking. I'm so happy for this recording and that you got to hear from the man himself. Long Live John Mew!

Well weight training does increase bone density. Astronauts in the ISS in space must work out with weights every day several hours a day because the lack of gravity deteriorates the density of their bones otherwise, weight training prevents that to a great extent. Lack of physical activity also causes osteoporosis, physical activity throughout our lives prevents that.

Very inspiring how as a new orthodontist, he didn't just take his superiors response of "oh it's just her genetic face". He didn't immediately take that answer and forget about it, but had the intellectual curiosity, empathy and honesty, to truly look at the case and find out what was happening. Normal people wouldn't want to admit that a treatment they did caused damage. They would want to just cling to what their textbooks taught them, and any abnormality could be hand-waved away by "genetics". We should all strive for this type of self-honesty and curiosity about what we see around us. Inspiring man. Orthodontics is something very new to the human race that we've been doing. To say that we have it all figured out would be ludicrous. I wish I had stumbled upon these smart men when I was 20 and getting pre-molars removed for traditional orthodontics. I would have maybe considered a different treatment.

Holy shit! This is exactly the same thought process as for the shape of the eye, its need for self-calibration, and the epidemic of myopia (nearsightedness). And again very similar to Diabetes Type II and the adaptation to refined sugar. A huge pattern is appearing here... :O Google even noticed the similarity and sent me here, presumably since it ran out of myopia videos.
@malenejensen29955 жыл бұрын
Could you tell more about the self-calibration of eyes, and where to find good information?
@VandroiyIII5 жыл бұрын
I've been into this topic for half a year now and put an overview of what I found in a long post on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/myopia/comments/9gkc7m/myopia_improvement_half_a_year_of_focal_distance/ In short, the eye keeps track of image errors and accommodation to determine its shape. It's very questionable to only improve immediate clarity with glasses, without addressing possible reasons for a deforming eye. This is a surprisingly small subject, and a good bit of the discussion isn't happening in the open. In the acknowledgements you can find three very interesting sources. I started with Todd Becker's talk, which is on KZbin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmaol5pqZ5KEpJI - though I'm now skeptical of the IRDT theory it's based on, and there are a lot of unsolved questions. Endmyopia is a group of people who share information about improvement; it's the most active group right now, and they seem to have by far the most experience. Finally, there is very interesting research in animals, where lenses can be used to alter eyes very significantly and predictably. As stated in the post, anything involving Frank Schaeffel should be a good starting point, and will leave no doubt that eyes undergo visually guided shape changes.

I had braces and a palette expander but didn't get what I can only remember being called a 'bianator' which was supposed to correct the overbite. I didn't realize I'd been inadvertently doing this technique for years, thinking I was just pushing my lower jaw out to attempt to self correct the overbite. But I was actually touching my entire tongue to my palette which automatically makes my lower jaw go out a bit further. Now I have a pretty normal bite years later and people look at me like I have two heads when I say I 'have no chin' so I think this shit works yall
