It is always interesting to be the focus of a significant news paper like the New York Times. Billy has taken an interesting angle. It is a shame that he does not cover the more serious issue that there is clearly a significant environmental influence on the position of the teeth and bones of the face. I have been calling for a debate, and think that it is imprerative to have a debate on the cause of crooked teeth. How can my speciality be treating such a large percentage of the population with little or no understanding of the cause.
We have put forward a sensible concept, see Tropic Premise and Craniofacial Dystrophy, are trying hard to affect the suspected causes of the problem in an effort to cure the underlying deformity. It takes time and we would love anyone to scientifically analyse our cases, warts and all.
I do not claim to have all the answers, but I do claim to be asking the right questions. There is a significant group of professionals who are concerned that methods of orthodontics can lead to a downswing in facial form impacting the airway. We need a understand why we people have crooked teeth, need teeth removed or even surgery. This is not too much to ask, it is realistically little more than the continuation of the scientific process.
It is not easy critique the very foundations of a massive industry, and there is a lot more to the story that Billy puts across. It is a story that needs hearing.
We manage to facebook pages for anyone professional or not to ask questions openly.

The underlying pathology of malocclusion and the related symptoms is referred to as Craniofacial Dystrophy;

This channel is part of the International Association of Facial Growth Guidance. A nonprofit organisation which aims to raise awareness of alternative orthodontic methods and ideas, which too few people are informed of.
The main aim of the platform is to precipitate debate on why teeth are crooked. Most people are not aware that (in most cases) the dental profession has little or no idea why the teeth are crooked, or for that matter why children need major surgery. Clearly there are genetic issues, however the science is clear, the weight of quality research papers, in respected peer reviewed journals, show that our modern lifestyle is a more important factor and most importantly we can do something about this.
This is especially important as sleep apnoea, TMD, forward head posture and a most otolaryngology problems are implicated as other symptoms of the same underlying problem.

I consider the act of removing six of my teeth by an orthodontist to be an act of criminal negligence. They were healthy adult teeth that I can never get back. The problem was not having too many teeth (how absurd), but a small palate caused by poor oral posture and chronic lack of chewing. I wish I had known about orthotropics when I was younger.

I am also feeling much sorrow over my four pulled and healthy teeth. I asked for help to not have crooked teeth since I was little. I cared about the problems with cleaning and only cared secondarily about the aesthetics of it. Had I learned about all this then as a kid (just as I now have about many health issues) I would have done it very seriously and refused the braces I asked for for years. I feel cheated. I asked prior to the procedures if we really have to pull the teeth? Ultimately, they made me choose between pulling teeth or crooked teeth. I chose the latter and now I regret it.

I'm a 53 year old woman and just found out about "mewing" from my 16 year old son (who just got his braces off). This is literally life changing. Also confirms so many issues that have gotten profoundly worse; t.m.j., sinus headaches and teeth clenching when stressed. I've only been doing the tongue pressed to the pallet for 1 week and have seen a "huge" change already. Not only my "double chin" but my sinus migraines which are brought on by weather changes. Now I'm watching everything I can on it. Sure I care what I look like (who doesn't?), but it doesn't matter how great you look when you are debilitated by a horrific migraine in the middle of you face! Thank you and thank you to your brilliant, kind, humble, articulate father.

Long faces, tired eyes, crooked smiles. It began to feel as if the Mews might be right on this single but essential point, if on nothing else. Orthodontists’ unwillingness to engage with this claim - that industrialized life was shifting our teeth and reshaping our jaws - showed, at the very least, a confounding lack of curiosity about the causes of the problem they were looking at. If the Mews were right, then the implications were sweeping: Orthodontists had made billions treating patients for a problem that could have been prevented all along."

Thanks to your advice on mouthtaping my jaw is not loose at night & it has helped provide a better structure to my jaw. I have been doing this for about a year I have also been mewing and I find this had helped with jowels I no longer have. I notice when I start to forget to tape my mouth my jaw slightly starts to lose this structure. You have prevented me from allowing my orthodontist from ripping out 2 healthy teeth & have me the ability to directly say no to this & stand by my decision with confidence. You explained the complications of which how my TMD could be worsened & because of you i noticed that everytime the manipulated my jaw it would start to click & i could not eat . Thanks to you, i understood why this was happening to me and i used your excersizes to pull it back out - which relieves the clicking and the Tmj/Tmd. Since I have refused to let them manipulate my jae , my bite is still coming together beautifully though they fought me about the teeth and tge jaw manipulation .. & my problems actually are going away since they stopped manipulating it - because you gave me the ability to babysit my own health in a very educated way. Back to the mouth taping tho - i would like to ad that i do smoke and i would tend to weaze and clear my throat at night - I never snored loud - but more sometimes quietly . By taping my mouth , I nolonger need to clear my throat because I breathe threw my nose. I sleep a loy better/calmer & I have more energy . I stand behind you 100 percent . & Thank you so much for all of your online information , I believe it to be some of the most useful information pertaining to human health in the world. If we used your techniques, our bodies would be stronger - the evolution of our bodies woukd be stronger Perhaps strong enough to adapt to things like viruses that cause pandemics .. I will be going to see an Orthotroptician in Montreal once my braces come off. ❤❤❤

Uh, it is widespread unquestioned truth that losing teeth without replacing them will irreparably change your jaws, even if you're old. That the skull bones can change by daily behavior is already accepted truth, what they don't like is the idea of free daily unregulated PT for your face to improve function instead of surgeries. I can understand their dislike of people linking it so heavily to attractiveness because health is what is important not beauty, but this is classic annoying human bullshit like how you are far more likely to get a smoker to quit by telling them about the many ways it makes them physically uglier like giving them premature wrinkles and skin liver spots, (and how makes their boners weaker) than that it will rot their lungs and cut decades off their life span. Telling someone to stop resting their tongue in a position that will increase health problems like breathing difficulties and more will most of the time be met with shrugs and apathy, tell them it will make them look better without costing any money, and suddenly they care. Human vanity is pretty frustrating in terms of how disproportionately much people care about it vs their actual daily health.

@@Call-me-Al Yes I know their general dogma. They don't have a true scientific understanding of taking advantage of the human body's genetic potential like the Mews do. Also, there's a reason that the stereotype of women not caring so much about looks exists. It's true that great personality, humble confidence and being a hard-worker are the main things women want. Most of society brushes them off as whackos. So to associate these great, humble, dignified, highly scientific doctors with incels right smack in the title immediately puts them in the whacko category to anyone who comes across this article. Here I answer you in English: Why do women insist on maintaining the lie that you are not as superficial as men or more? To look good to society? It bothers women a lot to look bad in society and they will never recognize a reality if that reality leaves them in a bad place. The physique matters for everyone and matters a lot, although it is not the only thing that matters as the Incels say, the problem is that the physique matters today more than it should matter as it is the only selection criterion that is being used within social networks (the means or method of dating most used today). Basically the proliferation of Incels is a consequence of the widespread use of social networks to flirt since these networks impose on people a context where they can only be valued by their physique, so many people who are not physically attractive (but who could be attractive for other reasons) is ruled out. And this is the reason why the Incels are putting so much emphasis on the physical (reaching exaggeration to the point of thinking that the physical is the only thing that determines your desirability for the opposite sex, something that of course within social networks if so, but not in the real world). We are in the age of the internet, in the age of the image, in the age of social networks and this has greatly harmed men who are not physically attractive to flirt. There has been no other time in history where physique has been so overrated. We live in a society more superficial than ever because our society is a virtual society where the physical or the image is the only thing that matters to link, and all because of social networks, the frivolity of the virtual medium. In addition, social networks generate another pernicious effect and that is that apart from imposing a context where only the physical matters, the large and exorbitant number of suitors and options that women receive within these networks (much more than they would receive in a world without networks) is something that makes them even more demanding/superficial (either within that medium or in reality). Never in history have they had so many options or suitors. Social networks offer them an excess of options that make them even more demanding, and it is normal because the more options you have to choose from, the more selective you will be. And if we have a context to flirt where only the physical matters and where women are more demanding than normal, you will have the perfect breeding ground to have the most superficial women in history and to have a fairly significant number of ugly men unable to flirt.

Two of the molars that my dentist refuses to move have just reoriented after mewing made room for them and now align with the rest of my teeth. I can also breath a little better and my TMD has been getting better recently.
