I'm living for these vlogs, Natalia. It makes me so happy. Watching you talk writing makes me feel nostalgic for when I first started writing:)

Thank you for the inspiration! As far a critique partners go, you may want to try out a site that was made by another Authortuber/Editor. I want to try it as soon as I can afford it. It's called Ink Crafters, and everyone uploads short chunks of whatever book they're working on. The community reads and critiques each other's work.

I love how strong you've come back to drafting after so many years since the last published book!

Totally feel you on being too close to the story! I have always asked my mom to read my books because she's really good at noticing inconsistencies within the story. Maybe you could find someone or have Greg read over what you have for some general feedback?

I completely understand that "too close" feeling! I have been feeling that way lately about my WIP that I've been revising. The best critique partners I found so far were on instagram. They were technically Beta Reading for me but they were both very critical in a good way.

Regarding a CP, I've had a couple with mine but I have a bit of spice in my books and it can be a bit awkward if they don't read that type of book. I found mine via a Facebook group I am in but I haven't used one for my current/new project (at least not yet)

I have a critique partner that's a good friend of mine. Definitely helpful, especially to just chat ideas with and get that trusted feedback on if an idea is good or bad or needs work. Mine recently pointed out something problematic in my work that I hadn't even considered. He's not a writer himself though. If you put it out there for an application it's something I'd down to apply.

re the critique partner thing, my dad has read every version of my book. I just have him read the chapters as I write them and he tells me if he feels like I've improved enough for this pass or if I still need to work on the chapter. he reads about three times the amount of books I do each year, so he's a pretty good compass point on how my revisions are going, sometimes i change things and i don't know if ive made it better or worse but just having someone letting you know it is at least better or not super helpful

I have had crappy CPs. I end up doing all the work then they ghost me. Maybe for someone like you (us) with limited time, start by trading synopsis or outlines. So you can get a general idea if your story is a winner, or if the CP is a winner, before you invest a ton of time in them.

How could a critique partner not work? Just has to be that person.

If you don't have the time to trade chapters with a CP maybe go with a paid partner? Then you don't have the additional time commitment.
