Oh yeah I suppose also all the console ports for Poker Night 2 were solely for Borderlands 2 unlocks on those. Salt on the wound though, the SHIFT codes (Borderlands' weird social media key system ) expired as I'd assume around the time the games were pulled off, making them unrecoverable on the current console versions. Even PC you can kind of get them through save file editing, so that's a shame I won't get Maya's dumb poker visor.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this: These games made me happy and kept me sane during the early months of the covid pandemic. Right when I was an anxious mess, locked inside, not knowing what was going to happen, playing this was an honestly relaxing way to pass the time. Ironically enough, it also made me understand probability just as much. I hope that either the reborn company, or another one wishing to make a spiritual sequel, makes a sequel.

hey man, thanks for the shout! not sure how i'm only just seeing this. i think we all share the same sentiment - reinstatement (and a third poker night?) would be awesome, there's no other crossover title quite like it. sadly, with all the old staff gone, i don't think LCG entertainment has any serious plans. if they had the passion for it, they could probably re-license the characters from PN1, but i don't see PN2 coming back anytime soon.

Yeah, the rights holders of PK1 are much easier to acquire, outside of the Heavy, they are small comic or internet cartoon properties owned by friendly people who were very involved in PK1. But PK2 is with much larger name characters and franchises with Borderlands, Venture Brothers, Portal, and Army of Darkness. That would likely cost a lot of money to reacquire for little reward

I’m glad somebody is giving these games some more time in the spotlight; as someone who found these games long past their takedown from the Steam Store they’ve always intrigued me, and the character dialogue is a big selling point for me personally. And while it is sad that they can’t be purchased anymore, technically you *kind of* can still get them. Steam Keys for both PN1 and PN2 are still out there and alive, which is actually how I got my hands on the games back in 2021 for my birthday; you just have to know where to look for them

I remember having a dream lineup for Poker Night 3. I think the roster was like - Sully from Uncharted, Rick from Rick and Morty, Handsome Jack from Borderlands and then Archer from Archer. Oh, and Telltale’s Joker would be the dealer. I always had fun imagining new characters that would be perfect for a sequel. It’s still one of my favorite games to this day.

There's this online game called Strip Poker Night at the Inventory which well, is exactly what it suggests. You play strip poker with a bunch of characters from video games, anime, whatever. Honestly the nudity in that game isn't that appealing, I feel the real interesting part of that game is that its a poker game where you can choose from dozens of recognizable characters as the opponent with a lot of them having unique interactions with each other. Honestly I would actually like to see a SFW version because the character interactions are more interesting than just the titties.

I've bought Poker Night 2 second hand, and it was like 30 bucks, which for me is really expensive. However, the game is so amazing that I've never regretted it. I bought Poker Night 2 when some dude reviewed it in his random selection of intriguing games. And the only ones I knew in the game were Claptrap (because I saw a review on Borderlands 2) and Glados (because I played Portal). That was it. And these other characters have captivated me enough with their charisma and banter that I wanted to know more. I am really glad I got the game back when I did. It was a marvellous journey.

I had both games, 1 and 2, and I still have 1. I refunded 2 shortly after I bought it cuz (a) it was genuinely pissing me off, and (b) I needed funds for another game. Aaaand then the purge happened without warning. Obviously, good at poker or not, I regret that decision, especially considering the fact that PN2 is the least likely to come back entirely due to Ash (getting Brock should be easy cuz AS is really lenient in terms of who/what they give their game licenses for, and Gearbox is bleeding money from their last Borderlands game, so getting Claptrap should be a piece of cake). But, I am glad I at least got the exclusive weapons, since PN2's shit was purely cosmetics. Really don't wanna pay like 4x the og price or more on the aftermarket for a fucking poker game. This is a long shot idea, but what if instead of using mainstream fictional characters for another PNATI games, we picked characters from web indie series (video games, online episodic series, comics, short film franchises). I think the reason for both Poker games to be taken off from steam mainly because of expired licenses for each character based on their respective corporate owners (Valve Co, Gearbox, Warner Media/Cartoon Network, Renaissance Pictures), that and also TellTale going through their first bankrupt general assignment before their comeback in Oct 2018, with the Pokoer games delisted on 2019. If it is negotiable with independent creators to still own the rights to their characters while having the indie Poker games still available for purchase without any licensing issues like the past two games, maybe it's possible to make an inspired spoof adaption based on the PNATI games? Personally I thought of the players Margo (Hands Up), Shrike (Monkey Wrench), Geronimo (Geronimo & Heatstepper), and Killgar (Starbarians), and the dealer would be Wink (Wimp Witch), the bartender would be the bartender red girl from the web game Bar-I-Tone, and the host would be Pod-Chan. All series and characters are based from the frontpage of Newgrounds and are independent sci-fi animated series (exception of Pod-Chan being the mascot of the Newgrounds Podcast and the bartender from a western theme short game), and the name of the game would be called "Poker Night at the Portal". There also also some additional game mechanics I have thought of to make it a little more unique compared to the previous two poker games (additional game modes, conversing with characters option), and the bounty challenges would be unlockables to use as skins or in-game decorations from Steam Games that came from the community at Newgrounds (Cult of the Lamb, Madness: Project Nexus, SkullGirls, etc).

Now if i had to make the roster for a potential third game i would pick papyrus from undertale, peppino Spaghetti from pizza tower, vector from sonic and pico from picos school (the friday night funkin version to be exact) with caine from the amazing digital circus as the dealer and grillby from undertale and an omochao from sonic as the bartender duo with omochao serving the Drinks and grillby preparing them and the table unlockables would be grillby's or alphys's lab from undertale, green hill from sonic, john gutter or pizzascape from pizza tower, a bloody school for picos school and the gloink cave from the amazing digital circus pilot with the bounty items being a mew mew figure from alphys, a gun from pico, the mushroom toppin for peppino, the severed head of the annoying hermit crab badnik from that one chaotix mission in sonic heroes and pommis hat from TADC and the special costunes to match the table unlockables would be black and white papyrus to reference that when in battle in undertale your opponent is in black and white, picos old look fron the original flash game he comes from, classic vector from knuckles chaotix, pixelated peppino and fir the gloink cave we have pomni peppino, papyrus dressed as jax, vector representing kinger and pico looking like caufmk before he got abstracted and bubble would be by caines side and for the special themed eliminations in john gutter pizzaface wozld show uo and chase the eliminated contestant with peppinos elimination having the two battle in the backround, for the undertale theme sans would shpw up to give the busted out contestant a bad time and for papyrus's elimination the two just leave and walk home or as a reference to dusttale sans would teleport papyrus away with his hood up, the green hill theme would have charmy and espio show up beat ul the eliminated contestant with the papyrus animation having the chaotix fight sans with vector also joining in and getting busted out becuase of it and in the vector Elimination the chaotix trio do a stage performance changing the music from green hill to a remix of the chaotix music from sonic heroes with the voice actors for the chaotix taking turns with the lyrics, for the picos school eliminations cassandra would break into the inventory and transform into her true form with the contestant fighting her with at the end if the round cassandra is finally killed for good and the inventory is saved with the backround becoming more and more chaotic with sans, papyrus, the chaotix, peppino and gustavo and pico and darnell fighting her and in the backround during the fight grillby and omochao hide behind the counter and in the digital Circus themed Eliminations caine sends the busted out contestant into the cellar to suffer with the other abatracted abominations

I never really read it but Penny Arcade isn't really an "obscure" webcomic especially by 2010 standards. They were one of the first creators to get big enough to make it thier full time job, and they set enough of the trends in the medium that basically every gaming webcomic got called "another PA rippoff". That and PAX being one of the larger international conventions aimed at gaming standing for Penny Arcade Expo. It's hard to compare numbers that aren't apples to oranges but for the little it's worth PA webcomic in 2010 had about 3 and a half mil readers, while TF2 the best numbers I could get was a peak of 45 thousand peak concurrent players.
