Gold atoms only have one extra proton or neutron than lead ones do, but it's far more difficult and costly to fuse a proton with another atom than it is to take one off; meaning it's cheaper to turn gold into lead than to turn lead into gold. Regardless, both are so ludicrously expensive that you couldn't possibly make a profit turning one into the other, unless suddenly either became stupendously rare (but it wouldn't surprise me if it would still be cheaper to speed up our automated asteroid mining plans than to do the fusion thing).

I think "Enterprise" is better in hindsight than I remember it. Like, better than Discovery and reboots and shit since then, for sure. But, yeah, that intro...
@Stromko2 жыл бұрын
That's how it goes with this stalling franchises, you think the most recent series is the most dreadful thing they could've done, then the next series is much worse, and the series after that is even worse still. For me, I'd count the start of the decline with the launch of Voyager, the principle holds true for me because looking back now I don't think it was that bad really. Better production values and computer graphics don't make up for the heart and soul of these shows and movies becoming dumber and cheaper over time.
@klaxoncow2 жыл бұрын
@@Stromko Voyager was bizarre, in that they set up this premise. They've been thrown to the other side of the galaxy, and then there's two crews - Starfleet and Marquis - who're forced to work together. Ooh, cool. So we'd have a more interesting dynamic with conflict and stuff? Nope, they gave up on that in episode two, and everyone just became goody-two-shoes Starfleet officers. So, like, what was the point of setting all that up in the first place? And Kate Mulgrew says she modelled Janeway after Margret Thatcher. Yeah, that doesn't work for a Brit at all. I mean, she did a good acting job, as Janeway was, indeed, as confusingly annoying and needlessly aggressive as Thatcher. But I couldn't keep watching, as she was just winding me up with her constant reckless and slightly mad decisions. But, yeah, good Thatcher impersonation there. It's like an actor telling a Russian audience: "Yeah, I modelled my performance after Stalin". Or, for Americans, I guess something like "yeah, it's a hybrid of Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter". Excellent. Model yourself after the ones no-one much liked. That's a plan. Robert Picardo, though, was good. And, in the same way, Jolene Blalock's T'Pol is what I've gone back to watch and that's a brilliant job of handling "the first Vulcan in Starfleet" storyline. The "temporal Cold War" thing, though, was a horrid misstep. Look, it's a prequel. Keep it there. No time travel and "ontological paradox" crap, thank you. What I do like, watching back, was the "early Starfleet" vibe. Like Archer having no "Prime Directive" - but learning the lessons of why one might be needed, as they horribly mess things up without it. No trusting the transporters. The invention of phasers. Just generally having a shit ship that all the aliens can run rings around. That whole angle was clever and awesome - to show us a flawed and "newbie" Starfleet, that isn't confident and often doesn't know what it's doing. Good ideas. That end up being squandered.

In terms of Elden Ring lore VS Dark Souls, I've found the lore more easily digestible over Dark Souls, most DS games I never really understood what the story was besides "Stuffs messed up, link the flame to fix it", whereas with Elden Ring I understand the main story, and I understand all the side character stories, if you take your time and just listen to what NPC's say they typically give you very useful information for exploration. Love Elden Ring so far, just wish my friend could play with me, we've spent over 10 hours trying to get easy anti cheat to stfu and let him launch the game.
