Best coach? Not even close. How am I gonna get coached by a guy below me rating wise who lies and makes stuff up? Yeah, not every coach has to play at the highest level, but Woohoojin is in a pitiful rank. Charla7an and Royalg are legit. Charla7an got radiant on 150 ping and Royalg high imm3 with Sheriff last I checked... but Woohoojin is miles below them with every tool at his disposal.

@@thishandleistaken1011 there are plenty of coaches that are lower skill than their students. This is found across all sports. A coach identifies deficiencies and help build a plan to fix them. Not all great players make good coaches either. Most top end players make poor coaches since their talent is just natural to them, they can articulate what makes them good. The best pro sports coaches were mid tier players that understood the xs and os and what it takes to grind up the ranks.

@@ValDADVic Other sports have an element of physicality and a lot of coaches in other sports are fraudulent too. I'm just not gonna take advice from someone who is so low rated and unable to implement his ideas. You don't need crazy mechanical talent to rank up. So what is Woohoojin lacking? Every day there was a fresh perspective on the game and the opportunity to be exposed to a new set of scenarios and learning opportunities broken down by an expert determined to make it digestible for people. That insane consistency and ability to shine light on salient concepts day in and day out. It almost felt like the environment of a camp or a clinic where there was a unanimous focus on improvement from the community as well. Definitely had a great time learning from Woohoojin and hope that all disciplines can have educators of that caliber.

2:40 just want to comment the reason hooj is telling you to do this and the reason why royalG is a bad comparison is because royalG has proven himself to already be at a radiant level, so him casually streaming while hitting the rank is not hard for him. If you are a developing player and wanting to get better to reach that red rank, then you have to put 100% of your focus into it in order to be able to grow the fastest. Now I do want to add that its definitely not necessary, I think hooj is just telling you this because he wants you to get there faster. Streaming wont make you get worse, itll just make u reach your desired rank a bit slower, and if you are okay with that, then theres nothing stopping you from doing that. Coaches are meant to give you the most optimal route to improvement, and not streaming while climbing is more optimal than streaming and having part of your attention diverted elsewhere. Yea now that I finished that section it made it more obvious to what hooj was saying. You CAN stream and climb, but balance is important anywhere in life, so balancing a job, streaming AND trying to improve is gonna be way harder and slower than just the job and improving. As hooj said, he only has to focus on content and improving since he didnt have a job. I think the main issue here is you took it as an end all be all statement from the banana and assumed having all three would inhibit your ability to improve. but it wont, itll just make the process take longer Hooj was super fun to watch, and even though I wasn't playing that much during hooj's prime, his videos made me realize how much I love coaching and understanding the mechanics of the game. And it actually helped since in the most recent act, I was able to climb from p2 to asc 2 where I am atm in two acts. I never got coaching directly from him, but since I spent basically a whole episode just watching his coaching vids and learning the game, I was able to climb so fast once I did start to play again.

After Woohoojin stopped making his videos I feel like my VALORANT gameplay quality has deteriorated, the small bite sized pieces of potassium wisdom on the beginning of every video really made a difference, and watching a full video was a treasure trove of potassium wisdoms. Scavenging the Woohoojin VODs channel to see all of the Yoru VODs uploaded to always learn something new. If it wasn't for Woohoojin, I doubt that I would ever got to Ascendant, heck, I probably would've been stuck on Silver forever. Even tho I never got reviewed by Woohoojin (I never submitted any VODs to be reviewed heh), I have been recording all of my games for 1+ years, because Woohoojin always recommended to record your games and then go thru your VODs to see what you were doing wrong. It is very sad that he stopped doing content creation, because it really felt like he did something different compared to other similar channels that really clicked to me. In the beginning I watched Jollz VOD reviews, but they are always veeeeery shallow and he doesn't go too much in depth, watching Jollz VOD reviews is like eating fast food while watching Woohoojin was having a banquet. However I will also agree that Woohoojin not admiting that he was boosted is a bit sad (he said that he was boosted, but that he had a alt account that was Radiant that he didn't want to expose the alt account to the public... and he never admitted outright that was also a lie, the only time he kinda hinted that it was a lie, was in one of his KZbin videos talking that he was coming back to content creation) And the boost allegations did come up on one of the worst times to him because he was doing the Raze to Radiant challenge, so he was already doing something that was hard to him and, with the boost allegations, he was kinda forced to play every day all day to try to rank up to prove his worth, and I think that did take a toll on his mental a lot, and it also affected the content itself because, at least to me, while it was fun to watch him playing, it wasn't fun to watch him do that all day every day. And let's be honest here: Yes, he did say that he was quitting content creation because he was burnt out, but I'm pretty sure that he was burnt out because he put a challenge to himself to get to Radiant to prove his worth, I think that, if the allegations didn't happen, I doubt that he would have quit content creation. There were also complaints about his own personality (like how he trashed the player that submitted the VOD) but I will be honest, as an outsider I never felt like he was being disrespectful to the player , it was a "tough love" kind of situation, where yes, he was a bit tough on the user, but he also wanted the player to improve. I think there's a parallel timeline that Woohoojin just admitted up right that he was boosted, gave up on the Raze challenge for the time being, and just played ranked for fun (and to improve, but without tying "I need to be radiant or else I'm a fraud" to his mental) and continued making content creation. I wonder if some day he will come back to content creation, once a content creator, always a content creator and all of that, but I really doubt that this would ever happen, because even tho he did earn a lot of money from content creation, I think that he does earn way more working on his current job (software developer) and has way less pressure working on it than he ever did while working as a content creator. At the end of the day, he left a banana shaped hole in my heart that no other content creator has ever filled.

Sorry for the big fat rant, I never had the opportunity to write it all out before because I don't have a lot of opportunities to "I want to speak out about how I feel about the Woohoojin situation" lol, and this video has the same "I miss Woohoojin" vibe I have every time I play VALORANT

This actually makes me so sad, because watching this video with Woohoojin's input on your gameplay was even helpful. It just shows the impact he can have on everyone's games. Specifically about Fire Boy though being inherently bad. I switched from playing KJ to playing Phoenix and actually started seeing my self climb in a whole Act (Silver 3 to Gold 3). Playing duelists has been really fun and I think the reason I even chose Phoenix to start with was BECAUSE of the fact his util was really simple to get into as a duelist and that I'm more of a brain over aim player. Being able to think about the game more than which ability I need to use was definitely a plus for me. But, I definitely understand why fundamentally, there are better duelists. I'll stick with him though while learning another duelists. I don't know who yet but this was very informative!! I need Woohoojin back :(((

On the thing about streaming: RoyalG is like a radiant/ex radiant player and hes basically smurfing while streaming. No shade but you are probably not near that level where you can stream and focus on game because you are not smurfing your games. At least in my experience, the less distractions the better. When all i have to focus on is each round I am able to assess and think more critically of what I need to do to win. If I spent my buy phase talking to a chat then I wouldn't be using that time that could be more effectivly allocated to planning what I am going to do in a round on a deeper level than just where I start and take first engagement. Of course, it's your game and your stream, so if it makes you happy, then do it! Its just that in my understanding at least, no stream equals less distraction and more crirtical analysis of how you play the game, which could help give you that extra push to immortal. Good luck with the grind!

Okay hear me out... I miss Hooj too, but only his youtube content. I've been a long time member of community and I'm proud to announce that I've seen how it began. But I feel he really changed as time passed. The discord community that I once enjoyed got from friendly, helpful and comforting to borderline gestapo-regulated gas chamber. Hooj started to let himself get really frustrated when he started streaming ranked (that I can forgive, ranked can be a bitch) but his VOD reviews sometimes became nothing short of a roast of submitting person which drove me away from his streams and community. I'll also note that discord chat started to get regulated and people being restricted/banned for long time for having opinion opposing to streamer which is IMHO unacceptable for community that really wants to be good & friendly. I know Hooj made a video addressing these because I was not the only to feel the wind of change but yeah... He did it only after his squeky-clean reputation started to burn. So I really feel like him taking a step back is a very mature and calculated decision. I'm sure he'll take his time and probably after good pause will slowly come back to a bit of a content creation. P. S. His youtube content was and probably will for a good time be miles away from any coaching content out there. First time venting my thoughts on the situation by the way. Peace out.

He should refund the people he coached under a lie, even if he helped them. People paid him because they thought he was a higher rank than he was and he used that to get money. Basically scamming them. He can come back once he’s done that

He became gradually more and more passive aggressive and resentful towards the community. Trust me I don't see a problem if you acknowledge your a regular piece of shit gamer like any of us and continue your streaming. I think the problem was he was acting as if he was somehow morally superior and generally acted so fake it pissed the whole community, No I'm not talking about his safe space, regulated, lame discord chat. The general community got fed up seeing his egotistical rise. Anyways I have some soft spot for him because I understand in the end we are all humans and we all do horrible things so its fine. But his community never condemning him and continuing to bootlick him made it so he never saw the issues with his behavior. You can't have both. You can't be a egotistical fraud and have a loving community. I say we let him have his life in the way he feels happier. Go look at better a coach someone like Charlatan. He never pretends to be fake. I followed him since the start of valorant. Why everyone loves charlatan? Because he is a genuinely good dude. But I cannot say the same from seeing Hooj act throughout his career. I wanted to Hooj to succeed so yeah here's my rant.
@Fang19 күн бұрын
Ehhh I feel like this is a reach. While I can't disagree with EVERYTHING you said here, its a massive overgeneralization to say he was never condemned, I spoke to a lot of people who stopped supporting him and even gave him some backlash after he got aired out.

I never cared about him being radiant or not because I didn't even know he claimed to be a radiant. I did mind how quick he was to antagonize his viewers and sometimes students and acting like a god, with 78 step requirements for him to even consider giving you advice. It also felt bad seeing him happily manipulating teammates and talking behind AverageJonas' back while queing up with him on stream. Just sociopathic behaviour honestly. I hoped maybe the whole drama would trash his ego and make him notice those things as well, but instead he just popped out of existence. Oh well.
@evilsdoom260620 күн бұрын
Genuinely interested cause i didnt notice it. Hiw did he manipulate his team mates and what did he say behind average jonases back?
@Mezurashii520 күн бұрын
@@evilsdoom2606 With Jonas it was shitting on his merch and gameplay while being positive in VC. With teammates it was similar, he specifically praised people who were fucking up or pretending to befriend the guys who were the most toxic to him. It wasn't a "kill them with kindness" kind of thing, it was genuine gaslighting.

Streaming negatively impacts you because you haven't yet proven you are at the skill level of RoyalG, who has hit radiant multiple acts. It is objectively easier to rank up while not streaming and you have yet to prove that you can hit immortal off stream, let alone while live.
@Fang19 күн бұрын
I don't think I'll ever be the skill level of royalg My point moreso is he can maintain his rank while streaming, not so much his rank itself
@indi155519 күн бұрын
@@Fang I'm not really pointing to his rank as a radiant, but instead his proven CONSISTENCY to perform at that level across multiple acts. He has put in an insane number of hours into the game to the point where concepts that you struggled with (like in this video) are not issues at all in his gameplay. You have yet to prove your consistent improvement off stream is all I'm saying. RoyalG as the liberty of streaming because he already intuitively understands and has ingrained in his memory the game at a level of depth that you still need to actively work on.
