@@ashahamid6470 I do love Tomyum but Curry and Assam Laksa are next level good. Many dishes with Chinese origin are similar too. Char Kuay teaw same as Pad Thai, Nasi ayam same as Khao Mon Gai, many similarities in cuisine.

Most of eatery place use frozen shrimp to control cost. That shrimp is fresh and plump. That is why its so tasty. The Char Kuey Tiaw is filled with lap cheong that is not halal but I was told by my chinese friends that it will add more flavor in the kuey tiaw. I always enjoy seeing you guys sapling foods in Penang. Penang is a food trap. Yes.

Actually there are many "hidden" local food spots in Penang that Penangites don't share in social media or tell anyone because we don't want non-Penangites to throng the place. Deen Maju is one example of how it used to be only local Penangites that go there until one Canadian youtuber publicise it and make it too popular. Now, mostly local tourist will only queue at Deen Maju :(
