shaving the coconut like that, yes it's tedious and we use machines these days. no one really kukur their kelapa now. but making kerisik from scratch, people still do it, but sometimes no time. so just buy the ready made one.

I bet the whole neighborhood can smell those tasty aroma of and questioning which house is it from... Any type of Rendang is my favorite. Most favorite Rendang is Rendang Tok which is from the State of Perak, and yet I'm a Sabahan but Rendang Tok is my favorite because of its the dry version Rendang and can last for a week if put inside fridge (only last for a couple of hours in my house)

@@skaenthusiast Yup.. Totally agree with you about time consuming, it can go for hours and hours depending on the quantity. Must have the patience when cooking Rendang Tok. Why it takes lots of time to get the perfect rendang, because need to control the fire/heat usage and remains in medium heat..

When they made kerisik from scratch reminds me alot of my grandma... the one i learnt cooking from. She always insist that making everything your own makes it more delicious. Including planting your own herbs... Haha..Well, she's right thou, no one can beat her cooking. Even our neighbors often come to her house for her cooking. I miss her alot especially nearing raya.

Both of you did well with the rendang. It is better to cook it in a wok because it is easier to stir the rendang. You better cut the beef into smaller pieces to make them faster to cook and make them tender. Kudos to both of you.

When you bring food to your mother in law and the feedback is damn delicious and they cant stop eat will be the best compliment you will ever get. Forget the others 🤣 because our husband will always said the food we cooked will be always delicious otherwise they never had chance to eat again in the future😅

The fact that you even make your own kerisik (fried grated coconut ) showed how persevered you guys were in cooking rendang.. my wife would normally just buy the ready-made ones...hehehehe... And I'm sure even many young Malay people don't know how to cook rendang like you guys. Hari Raya is over , so I am looking forward to watching your KZbin channel again for next Raya ! I played this video on television to watch with my parents while having biskut raya and hot tea. My dad told that Jimmy and IChang are basically Malaysian and mom approved your cooking! Also want to say that your video is sort of a healing to me during this difficult pandemic time ;) so please keep on posting more videos in the future. Both of you have my full support!
