I'm from Algeria. We eat basboussa which I knew is eaten from North Africa up to Turkey but I was far from thinking it was also eaten in Sri Lanka. The way you cut it remind me how we cut baklawa. My grandpa had a plot with lots of sugar cane and the other fruit her brother used to make the drink in my country we called it “Jobo” is sweet when turn yellow and when eaten green it has a bitter sour flavor, also we eat the leaves of the tree they bitter and sour as well. 😋 haven’t eaten any since I was 13yrs... That cake looks so yummy 😋
