Hello Janice…I arrived in Antibes in 2016 at 66 years old from Florida. As a single woman I arrived alone with my 12 year old Labrador, a huge suitcase and a back pack. I had other things shipped over which arrived 3 months later. I have never regretted it. I rent a lovely apartment and enjoy each day. I still drive but living here pretty much walk most of the time. Kudos to you!

I'm 66 and will be moving to a tiny French village in a few weeks. I've loved France and her language for decades. I spent 8 years looking around and staying in small towns of the Aude valley until the sense of loss every time I returned to my home city, a paradise lost, became too much. I am shipping a bunch of personal stuff but am getting rid of everything else, selling my house which is slowly slipping into a river as the rising tides take my home state back to the sea. My new place will be a big change. I'm ready.

I am in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I am a Floridian who has been here on and off since 1957. Last year we had a 1000 year flood event. It was 3 years after a 500 yr flood. 27 inches of rain in 24 hours. Thousands of cars were destroyed. The airport was closed for a week. Our governor doesn't believe in climate change even as we watch the water get higher every year. Insurance is $12k per year and another $1k for flood. It's not if, it's when the big wave sweeps over this state. It will make Katrina look like a church picnic. I leave Monday. @@JaniceInFrance

Janice, what a delight to stumble on your YT channel. As a young girl at 10 years of age, our family lived in Royan, France. My Dad was in the army and we lived in France and Germany for 3 years. I always wanted to go back to visit the places where we lived. My husband of 60 years planned to go in 2020, but b/c of the virus, we cancelled our trip. We have done a lot of traveling, but not to Europe. Now that we are in our early 80’s, I doubt whether we will now. BTW, you look more like a youthful 45 yr. old! 👍🏻💕💕

My husband and I have been talking about moving to Italy for the last 3 years! The only thing that keeps us from going is the challenge of speaking the language and the fear of not being understood like your situation in the hospital! Still trying to get up the courage to do it! I'm 60 and my husband's 68 and it's scary to think about. Over a year ago we moved from New Jersey to Maine after living in the same house for 20 years and that was an exhausting move but we downsized a lot which is good especially moving overseas! Hi, girl!!! Nice to see you again!!! Congrats on your success in France!!! I moved overseas to Rwanda and things are bitter sweet. I arrived last December then an emergency lead me to go back to the States then returned back to Rwanda last January to my dog dying and finding out when my plan landed. Then my second dog died 5 days later and my last remaining dog now in hospital, I have met some great people and special moments in Rwanda and I hope it will work out. I am happy that you are well and keep on keeping on!!!

You were “Janice in Georgia” for long enough. It’s time to be “Janice in France” from now on. All the best to you, and may you have many, many, many happy years in France! 🇫🇷🍾🥂🥐

Many years ago, I was in France , we were at the very back of the Versailles garden and Paris got hit with a cloudburst. I’ve never seen so much rain coming down so quickly . None of us had on jackets as when we arrived. It was a sunny afternoon to say we were wet is an understatement, but that’s still the highlight of the trip.

I loved France back in the '70s -- I was a rural specialist studying in Barcelona and hitchhiked to France to observe cold blood draft horses. The people were wonderful and pretended to understand my broken French. Paris was beautiful but unfriendly -- so glad you have found joy. It is beautiful and you will make your own history!

Hi Janice, don’t feel bad that you don’t speak French. I was listening to Adrian Leeds recently and when she moved to Paris she thought I’ll speak French within a year, then five years etc. She’s lived in Paris for 30 years and said she’s almost fluent but not 100%. I’ve been studying for 8 months and I know lots of words but I’m terrible at putting sentences together. I really enjoyed this video. ❤
